I'm most concerned about Britain. The world population will effect us as I have said many times. That is why we have to control our borders.

The world is already doing something about population but the positive effect will not be seen for at least 200 or more years if so called experts can be believed. That is too late to avoid a major crisis of resources.

Even if you stopped total immigration tomorrow totally there will still be an extra 4 million increase in the UK population by 2035 going by recent birth and death stats.

No or very little immigration is not a panacea. It is not the answer to now and future problems. Lack of investment, infrastructure, economic opportunity and housing is.

In fact, we will need overseas workers to help with that.

Inner London was a basket case in the 70's. Population de-growth, empty houses and slum like and crime-ridden. Dying on its arse.

Then the dynamics changed.

It really is. We killed nearly 2 million Brits in the Wars and their potential offspring. That is a lot of people. We have effectively replaced them with immigrants. Britain does not need a population of 70 plus million or endless mass migration to fix the future. We just need a better system to care for the old and more people having three children plus families who already live here.

I'm sure business owners will be delighted to hear this. After all our entire economic system is predicated on growth and without growing number of consumers, growing profits becomes quite difficult.

It would be good if the people who want more control over our borders and those who want to stay in the EU could unite in agreeing that the problem isn't immigrants, it's a system that rewards growth instead of happiness.

Ignore business, economics etc.

Geographically the UK cannot sustain a huge rise in population from where it is now.

Severely restricting future immigration will give us a chance to at least get close to providing sufficient homes for those already here and their offspring.

Even so, it is going to be very crowded, especially in London and the South East.

I hear you but the problem here is that the tory government will not shift from what they call 'sustainable immigration' Ms.Rudd is to continue with the same policy as her beloved leader - target of 100,000 not to be met as it is 300,000 in fact.

Thank you for engaging directly with me at long last.

If the Tories do not take this seriously, they will regret it.

There are a lot of disillusioned people that voted for Brexit that will not accept the current levels of immigration continuing for much longer and there will be a backlash.

I'm more worried about the amount of people hitting retirement age, and that me and my mates won't be able to support a family and them. Even sadder that the NHS has had their resources cut, since a large amount of our population will rely on it heavily very soon.

Immigration is only a band aid. The immigrants will also grow old.
Politicians are always thinking short term. They don't want to increase taxation because that is bad for the economy and bad for votes. Future generations must make better provision for old age but for many living day to day is hard enough especially with less job security.

Well, instead of railing against those that voted remain, why don't they aim their ire at the people in charge of the sodding thing?

Clearly 8 Billion worries you.... but what at what level would you be uncomfortable?

I think 70 million here would have our infrastructure creaking and groaning like a U Boat on the Ocean floor.

I think it's about 65 million or so now and just normal population growth in 10 years could take us to 70 million without more pouring in, in the meantime.

Well only if we don't control migration utilised for corporate profiteering. A reasonable level of migration, as the UK does lose around 100-125,000 people a year to emigration.

Of course birth rates and the rising world population is a monumental problem waiting to explode in a very nasty manner.

Well it could, if it was to raise taxation and resources, from those benefitting, to compensate those who are impacted - But it won't because governments typically live in corporate pockets. It why blaming the symptom is so popular, rather than the root causes

Its lovely to see corporations waving their 'British Credentials' whilst exploiting the poorer EU members and second / third world nations 'best and brightest', to maximise profits in the UK.

But the right wing have always blamed the poor, the voiceless and the unrepresented, rather than tackle the problems in capitalism that keep them nice and comfortable, at our expense.
