Gove isn't in the cabinet so I think comparisons with him are a tad unfair.....Also I think you are talking about a certain type of politician rather than 'Tories' as some kind of breed. As for Hunt...well I think any criticisms of him are perfectly valid in general. Apparently the criticisms were harsh but I can't bother to listen to Hunt. I haven't seen him do anything useful.

I am afraid you are the sort of person that would argue black was white rather than accept that your views are yours and yours alone and the truth and other peoples views mean nothing. I can see why so many refuse to debate with you. Your vote is your vote and my vote is my vote and the party I vote for will win this coming election by a huge majority so you will have to live with the result I am afraid.
Supported Palace for over 69 years since the age of 7 and have seen all the ups and downs and will probably see many more ups and downs before I go up to the big football club in the sky. |

I totally accept my views are my own and have not claimed otherwise. I also respect other people's views but don't necessarily agree with them. I find it hard to understand certain views when they are not explained, but simply stated as fact, or just refuting someone else's views without any reasoned critique. I know you've posted your view that raising taxes will cripple the economy and any additional borrowing will "bankrupt" the UK. I simply don't agree with them and have explained why. The only person I've seen actively refuse to debate is Willo, and whether that's to stop this become "another Willo thread" or because he can't be bothered or something else who knows.

b******s. Thats the nest egg my family were looking forward to as promised by the parents in law gone. One of them has alzheimers so will have to sell the house / use value of house to pay for care rather than using the nhs what they've paid into all their working lives.

The government is in office the treasury is in power which way is it going hard to tell. One thing I do know this is the most turgid boring election of all time and still weeks of grey nothingness to come. Crying out for a sex scandal but who would be capable? Definitely decided against the tories for calling it under false pretences. I am planning to vote in most constituencies for Jeremy in response to his email have pressed the 'yes' button 250 times.

People were encouraged into home ownership under Tories, now they're getting their house taken away (that they've paid over theodds for in interest payments) if they get alzheimers. People who were planning to leave assets to their offspring will be disappointed (unless you're well off enough to afford private care anyway)

I tried reading through the Conservative manifesto over lunch. It's really turgid and I had to stop. I will make myself sit down at the weekend and read it though. I can't help but feel it's designed to be user unfriendly. The Labour manifesto was much more concise and split into different documents to allow analysis of the pledges and the implications for spending and taxes. I see the Tories have a watered down version of the Labour national transformation fund - less than 10% of the size. A start but not enough. Pledge one is to keep taxes as low as possible (no guarantee not to increase) so no sign of creating a fairer tax system. The swingeing cuts are watered down which is again positive. The tories have failed to keep their promises on the economy for five years though and the strategy doesn't feel like enough to alter the course. The state of many public services including NHS have deteriorated markedly in the past 7 years. If any of you have thought on it and have read it I'd be interested to hear them.
