Quran, chapter 9(towbah),verse 29

I read a piece yesterday that said the Quran should be read as a whole rather than picking and choosing extracts to understand it fully. When read as a whole the extracts make better sense in context. The author other piece was complaining that neither jihadists nor their western critics see the Quran as a whole which is where the problem lies.

So what is the context of the quote then? What is the 'better sense' that we can get from it if we read the whole Quran?

Sure you found it but why did you post a link to it?

Of course the Qu'ran doesn't 'advocate terrorism'...God that headline is so stupid.

But it does advocate violence in defence of its religion......So dancing on a pin.

Also those so called 'facts' the article raises are very very very one eyed interpretations themselves.

I've heard these 'facts' before. Read the book yourself. Hey why not look into the Invasion of Banu Qurayza before you do this again.

Interesting which side of the line you fall into when it comes to this kind of thing.....You said you'd look into this area and I suspect you didn't.

Its a shame that all religious books don't start with a 'God says don't be a dick' preface. Plenty of s**t in the bible that promotes the use of violence and oppression. Products of their time and all that.

It'd be better maybe if rather than being colonised by a foreign religion from the middle east, the Romans had adopted ZaZen, Taoism or Buddhism. Or just stuck with the Paganism (at least it has create parties and fallible gods) . These Monotheistic religions have been nothing but trouble

There is no sense in Theism at all. It doesn't matter how it is dressed up.
By all means seek wisdom but don't lead your life based on what 'God' says or even worse, what someone else says 'God' said.

It is really odd how some people's first reaction to an atrocity like this is to defend Islam.
I look forward to your defence of Neo Nazis or radical Christians when they next kill someone. We might be waiting a while.

If only everything in life were as predictable as a HoL thread following a terrorist outrage.

Why anyone bothers to post on the political threads on there is beyond me.
It is an old pals club of left wing nutters and apologists. It's a disgrace to the name of CPFC.
