An interesting match, with Benteke seeming to get a booking from nowhere. At last, he seems to be building his game and is contributing to keeping opposing teams quiet. at the moment not being regarded as a threat be opponents. This allows our other players to attack. He needs to score plenty to get into the Belgium squad.

I know the majority of fans are very upset with Benteke and rightly so but we need to get behind him urgently to try and help restore his confidence. We are going to need him in the last 6 games, he has the ability just no confidence.

He just needs a song

If I agreed with you we'd both be wrong

To Bob Marley's "One Love"...

Two goals...
Two goals...
Let's get another, and feel alright...

Seriously though, he'll never score another goal.

Hope Roy H this week prepare us in right manner for next game. Same team as started yesterday with one exception - Benteke OUT, RLC to start! And if Sørloth is fit, make him our back-up for goals scored.
This farce can't go on. Flick ons etc, Tekkers' main task is to put the ball in the net. Missed two more sitters vs Liverpool. So far, 2 - TWO - goals scored after 31 games played.
It should have been a daft April Fool's joke - unfortunately it isn't.

There is stat that says he has missed 21 from 22 big chances he has had this season.
Don't ask me who decides what a big chance is but it sounds about right.
Just a few of those converted would see us many points higher.
As others have said he may well cost us dear - just hope it is not our prem league status!

I wish Roy would just say, "Yes, i've had enough too. He's utter s**t and I won't be picking him again."

if he should be dropped and roy knows this then do it cant keep using excuse dont have anyone else to play that position that is basically saying no one else can be slotted in which is rubbish look how sako changed his game plus townsend/zaha did alright up top when we had no others

roy really likes him

What options did Roy really have yesterday? Look at the bench !
Personally I would’ve put Fossu-Mensa up front just for nuisance value but you’d never see an experienced manager like Roy do that.

Yes when Benteke was injured he played Wilf and Andros up front but it’s obvious that Wilf is not fully fit right now and is being nursed through games so that formation just won’t work.
Roy had no option but to play Benteke and back him - apart from not crucifying him he has a responsibility to the owners to try and maintain Benteks ridiculous valuation as a club asset.
Wait till Sørloth is fully fit and you’ll see Roy finally drop him thank God !

Sorry - just watched MoD and stat must have been rehashed from them - 20 out of 22 - he actually scored two!

He fully deserved the booking a few seconds before it he was jumping into aggressively Van Dyke the ref gave him a warning then he goes and clips the players heels.

To get into the Belgium squad he only needs to show some passion and work rate neither is being shown at the minute plus he has had plenty of chances to create/score goals and he keeps messing up.

How would Wilf up top not work it is less work then what he played on the wing having to go back defend then go on attack.

I would of stuck Mensa in there to cover wings

Benteke would of been better off coming on second half

Why would he drop Benteke he didn't before.

It's a joke the new guy Everton purchased Tosun who was linked with us even last season has only played few games yet he was cheaper then Benteke and already has double the goals he has

I agree with a lot of the sentiments expressed on here about Benteke’s poor form.
The problem is that Townsend works hard without providing a threat, Sorloth is still unproven, Sako is injured and Will doesn’t look fully fit..
This means that there will be a huge reliance on Benteke in the remaining games whether we like it or not.
We rarely look like keeping a clean sheet which means we need to get 2 goals each game to get three points.
Where are these goals going to come from at the moment?
I think this is why Hodgson is being supportive of Benteke, but I’ll be amazed if he’s with us next season.
