Yeah ok mate...I'm a STEM teacher, I'm so impressed with your children speaking three languages, mine will probably be engineers. None of that has anything to do with the points I raised.

I play guitar and shag women as well.

Sometimes at the same time.

I'm happy to hear that your kids are doing well for themselves. I wonder if they share your opinion that the country is lost.

They are too young to concern with realities they can do nothing about.

so still young enough to be influenced by their father's rather melodramatic and extremely negative view of proceedings then?

As are your children probably influenced by your rootless and transitory vision for this country.

so rootless that I spend my time on the HOL chatting with fellow supporters of a medium sized unfashionable south London football club.

My son by comparison is still on the bbs despite having grown up abroad.

Yeah, chatting on Hol really makes some difference to that doesn't it.

Am I wrong, if so, how?

You were asked for an alternative viewpoint a few posts back yet gave a flippant one sentence reply. Yet you want me to explain my viewpoint of you based upon a few comments.

transient, temporary, brief, short, short-lived, short-term, impermanent, ephemeral, evanescent, momentary, fleeting, flying, passing, fugitive.

Britain is changing, it is always changing.

But it won't cease to exist. In fact I would argue that after we've emerged from this period of utter s*** the country will be appreciably stronger - economically, socially and politically.

Ironically it was you who said that the country is lost but it's me whose vision of the country is transient?

Remainers are also British. We also have British identities. But they're different to yours. We have a different relationship with our country. That's all.

And yes Palace is an important part of my identity. Some of my roots are at Selhurst Park and just like you I'll be biting my nails tomorrow night.

Obviously the difference between us is in how we view the transition. I resent the policies that enabled it while you appear to celebrate them.

I'm English, you can be British, its modern day reality is mostly a meaningless hotchpotch identifier.

Yes we have a different relationship to our countries and yes, like you, I'll be anxious for a favourable Palace result.
