Clubs do seem to be more willing these days to invest in older players if they think they can bring success. Look at Ronaldo's fee and Hazard (who remember only had one year left on his contract), while Neymar moved for £200m last year when he was around Wilf's age and could move for a huge fee again this summer. If Arsenal, for example, believed Wilf was the difference between getting Champions League or Europa League football then they may see the investment as worthwhile. Wilf takes care of himself and recovers quickly from knocks, so he could potentially have another 6 or 7 years at the top flight left in him. These deals are all misleading. Any deals involving the super powers all involve so much merchandising revenue that it actually offsets the cost. Juventus has some number crunchers work out how much they were gonna get in shirt sales before signing off the Ronaldo deal for example. So you can kinda assume the “real” cost to Juve was less than the actual price.

As well as disastrous for ticket sales. If we thought our football was turgid last year at times imagine a season without those two! Well, Wilf is only on the bench for the Ivory Coast today and it doesn't look like there's any fans in the stadium, so maybe you're right!

Tongue in cheek I know, but would you consider selling him this window? No. If we don't have to then I would never sell him! Didn't do too much in his 20 minute cameo today. Not sure why he didn't start though as he is better than some who did.
