So there we have it,BFS sacked after 6 months in charge with yet another mega pay off.

Yes the jury is out on him.

I was just thinking hypothetically - If Hodgson had announced his retirement and Silva was being linked with us what do you think would be the reaction of our supporters ? Would they look at his record at Hull and Watford and cast aspersions or would they see him in a positive vein ? This is not a rhetorical question and I have no view either way.

Judging from the boards last summer the reaction to Silva was decidedly mixed. To be fair, the situation at Hull was not good with all the turmoil surrounding ownership but they were winning at home but losing away. Watford seems to be a club where managers get hired to be fired. My own reaction to him is that he is a media darling but really doesn't have the record to match the reputation. The times I saw his club Palace soundly defeated Hull last season to relegate them and Watford did an el foldo late back in December. I personally don't rate him and if Everton do hire him they'll probably be looking for his replacement by Christmas.

With what happened to Souare we needed to sign two LBs I reckon. 18 months with just PVA for that position would've left us putting Ward or Kelly over there when cover was needed.

I take it that’s a typo and you meant 8 months. You’re possibly right with us needing 2 for quality to defeat those top sides towards the end of that season with Sakho bossing his third of the pitch. But how about 1 LB better and cheaper than Schlupp in the summer and then PVA in January?

That’s the fault and problem of Everton and the way the Premier League is. It’s not him at fault. He’s offered a role and contract and then they want to payoff his contract.

Btw I think managers being ‘sacked’ in football should be amended to manager ‘paid off.’

Nope. Souare got injured soon after the start of the 16/17 season and PVA and Schlupp both arrived in Jan 17. Pape has only just played his first minutes in the league since his injury so they've had to cover the position for 16 months. I just lazily went with 18 as a year (season) and a half.

I still don't think having both of them here is OTT.

I remember the situation. Souare and Fryers.

I’m just bringing up how we could’ve handled the recruitment better in the short and long term. One more LB with Souare may have done us to January and then we could’ve signed PVA because he wanted away from Sunderland by then. But to sign a better one than Schlupp in August would’ve required better scouting.

But Schlupp came in before PVA, who was a deadline day signing. I wouldn't have wanted us to have just Schlupp or PVA as the only LB option from Jan 17 to Aug 17, or Jan 17 to Jan 18 (or now even).

What I do understand is that your blind hatred of the man over rules "facts" and you are just making it up as you go along.

Whatever the real reasons for Sam leaving us I will always be grateful to him for saving us from relegation

Never said I wasn’t grateful for him keeping us up....I am.

Making it up as I go along??? Hahahah! Recent events show just how little you know!

So Sam has gone and guess what, he’ll be back for the money somewhere else, probably having taken a short break away from the game to spend more time with his family

Sam and Parish didn't "fall out" in the meeting; he went in and the first thing he said was that he needed to leave and Parish was gobsmacked. Now it's possible of course that the two of them were telling a white lie about that but there's no evidence whatsoever.

Allardyce is an expert in avoiding relegation. WHen he was appoointed, Parish said, "There's nobody better at making sure a club doesn't go down". That's the specialism he brings and the price he charges for it is pretty fair given the financial damage relegation causes.

Now are you saying he left because he "doesn't like the demands of 24/7 management" any more or that he "fell out with Parish in the meeting"? You can't have it both ways.

Of course you can...both could be and were contributing factors...BFS has even said as much!

When you look a Sam's pressers and comments during his tenure, you could argue he was angling for this all along. Will be a pundit at the World Cup and then have four or five months off.

Exactly, without any of the pressures that come with managing a PL club 24/7.

Summer/Pre Season/Autumn off (again!) and more money and bonuses for saving a team from relegation for 5 months work than for all the s*** that comes with a whole season!

The Allardyce formula...as I pointed out on Page 2!

I have no issue with that....just don’t treat supporters as total mugs by not being honest and saying you are stepping away from management to spend more time with your family!
