It's when I see the examples of racism that I worry. Yet again the BBC is reporting what I think is a highly controversial proposal to shut down free speech and doesn't bother to report the other point of view. As for the paid students no doubt the lefties will be queueing to sign up armed with their mobile phones and Hi Viz ready to root out wrong thinking. Sigh when I was growing up universities were bastions of free speech it sees a long time ago. There's a certain kind of conservative normie, and I don't present that as an insult because that was me, who wants to ignore race and be colour blind....which was the culture within which I grew up. What I came to realise, of course, is that this has consequences within the culture. If you leave a space within a power vacuum it's going to be filled and the far left have filled it. Now, if people want to ignore race, they are going to increasingly find out that it's not going to ignore them and that their protestations won't fix it. The people coming out of those universities are going to be the people running society and its institutions......Hell, we see them running them now. Now that's the pipeline. I'm sure "global citizen.org" has absolutely no interest in globalization and flooding the west with immigrants despite all the people on the board being either from large corporations or leftist quangos / NGO's (the latter now being a huge business in itself). No lets take on their "surprising facts". 1. The UK is the 10th largest source of migrants to the rest of the world - which tells you that based on the actual net migration number the actual number of 3rd world people coming to this country is even bigger than people think. It's not just white flight from big cities (which we know has been going on for years) that are causing the huge demographic changes but people leaving what they see as a sinking ship. 2. Only one-third of immigrants to the UK come from EU countries - Yes and so what. The one's coming from the EU are not all called Pierre or Heinrich anyway. More evidence of huge demographic change. 3. The UK population greatly overestimates the proportion of immigrants in the country. For a start see me answer to (1) - no they don't, and the supermarkets have estimated we are closer to 80 million people based on food sales alone. People can see these changes every day of their lives especially if they are living in the big cities and larger towns. It's a dramatic change. 4. A 2014 British social attitudes survey found that 24% of the public believed the most common motive for immigration was welfare - You have to earn about £40k to pay enough taxes not to be a burden on the state. How many people from pakistan, Romania, Sub-Saharan Africa etc earn this much? Also look at the money simply being extracted from our economy 5. “Mass” was the most commonly used word to describe "immigration" by the British media from 2006-2015 - at what point do we get to call it "mass"? Just another attempt to control language and hide what's really happening. 6. When the press specifically used the words 'immigrants' or 'migrants', rather than 'immigration,' the word 'illegal' was used 3 out of 10 times - As per (5) and so what? It's not beyond the realms of possibility that 30% if migrants are illegal anyway. 7. Overall, migrants give more to the UK than they take. - this is proven bollocks and we all know it [Link] 8. Britain’s official favourite dish — fish and chips — was brought to the UK by a Jewish refugee - well that got them to eight and I guess it makes all the above worthwhile. In short, the benefits of mass migration to western countries is the biggest lie in history.

Here is probably a more surprising fact: Response to UCL paper on the fiscal effects of immigration to the UK Between 1995 and 2011 the fiscal cost of migrants in the UK was at least £115 billion and possibly as much as £160 billion according to a report from the Centre for Research and Analysis of Migration headed by Professor Christian Dustmann at University College, London. The report found that migrants in the UK were a fiscal cost in every year examined Also have a good look at this: £16.5 billion leaving the economy each year plus the billions we are spending on foreign aid yet our elderly are dying of cold and our veterans sleep on the streets.

As it seems you struggle with alternative viewpoints I question who is actually indoctrinated. I won't bother to try to answer all the responses and defensive justifications you made in your previous post. I suggest you send it to the author, and not to me. We are where we are. Why we are can be argued about, but it's not going to change the past. What matters is how we deal with it and how we plan our future.

Once again the ugly word "racist" crops up. From the usual suspect who seems so wound up about it that you have to wonder why. I sense some repressed guilt but as I am no psychologist I am probably wrong. It's another of those interesting words which some people seem to want to redefine. I hope we can agree that a racist is someone who practises racism and that anyone who does is stupid, so we can ignore that word. The OED defines racism as :- "Prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against a person or people on the basis of their membership of a particular racial or ethnic group, typically one that is a minority or marginalized." Seems pretty straightforward to me. It also seems unarguable that there are some in the majority population of the UK who can legitimately be described as racists. Especially by the antagonism criteria! It seems though not everyone agrees! Although focussed on the USA this piece makes some interesting points:- One particular sentence resonated with me:- "One response is that these Republicans are more offended at being called racist than at being racist."
For the avoidance of doubt any comments in response to a previous post are directed to its ideas and not at any, or all, posters personally. |

We are, after all, a minority by nearly 10 to 1 on this planet.

If you were in another country and part of a minority ex Pat British community then it is quite possible that you could suffer from racism. To a degree I have before.
