I recently had to take a neighbour to 'an event', when she was stuck for transport. I had just come back from walking the dogs and doing some foraging in the woods.
When we got to the venue, people were being searched, and I forgot I had a pen-knife on me. (they let me into the event, as I'm in my 50's ,...but they took the knife)
If I were in London, I probably would have been arrested/cautioned.
Out here in the sticks a lot of workers carry utility knives, and a lot of people have (Licenced)firearms.

It would seem to be a cultural shift, particularly in metropolitan areas.

So gang violence seems to be the crux in other countries, under differing political systems.

I agree we need more Police on the streets. It's about the only thing we agree on.

You can't just keep saying this will solve the problem in itself though. People have to believe that carrying a knife and stabbing each other is not an acceptable way to behave in a disagreement.
