Not at all both work shift work clocking up around 40hr per week so they both have plenty of time.

as i said before excuses.

Clear example is people have the time to go into the likes of Costa or other places to buy food on the go well you work out the time spent in those places it could easily add up to preparing food at home but people are lazy now they want everything instant handed to them no effort this is why we have so much processed rubbish.

Its a fair point as was the one above this reply that mentioned a food tax for unhealthy foods.

The whole lot needs looking at, as there are people actively trying not to be a burden by living and maintaining healthy lifestyles who are likely to be paying far far more into the system then they get out. Perhaps there should be a 'rebate' system where upon a regular check up, and the number of times we use the system we get tax credits?

Iím all for charging people who donít turn up for GP appointments. But thatís riddled with issues with some reasons and people who canít pay or no bank accounts to register on a system.

NHS dentists do it and these are not issues.

The whole not turning up thing is silly anyway if you have an appointment and not turned up few minutes into that time you just call the next person.

I know some one will say but next person may not be their well why not you should always be their 5 min before your appointment i know hospital appointments they state this.

People who go the dentist and have some kind of care of their teeth and at least some organisation will be easier to charge than some of the people who donít turn up to the GP and without a regular income, means to pay, bank account, etc etc. However, weíre forever making allowances for people that maintain these problems.

Are you trying to say people who are on low income do not go to the dentist? you know they get free treatment at dentist right and the rules are the same no matter your income status so miss appointment you get charged.

It looks like a lot of GP surgeries are now using the 2 strike rule miss one you get warning do it again you are removed from the practice

Then get ill and die and a big inquiry costing £1000s.
A bit like letting fat people die.
Gone full circle !

Agreed.

I like the theory but in practice it won't be fair. The first thing they will do is exempt the old, the young the poor and the chronically sick leaving the working tax paying person as the only payer, yet again.

There is a better solution for reducing missed appointments.

All appointments should be conditional and the patient must confirm their attendance on the day and before a certain time. Anyone who doesn't confirm has their appointment cancelled and given to those who need one urgently.

Confirming your attendance can be done by technology e.g. internet, SMS text or option on the practice telephone system without the need of a human being.

The practice staff will know by say 9am how many appointments they have spare that day. It won't resolve everything but it should allow them the mange it much better.

If someone turns up without confirming the staff will try and fit them in but if not make another appointment.

Ok so Iím assuming youíve served in either profession then and know from experience??

Iíll put this scenario to you.. youre on late turn starting at 2pm. You bring a prepared meal in from home.. it gets kept in the Police station in your team fridge and you go out on patrol in the cars.

Youíre due your break at 6pm.. At 5.50pm youíre dispatched to a sudden death (person found dead)
You know from experience that a sudden death takes around 3 hours to deal with. Over the next few hours there are no spare units to go and get your food from the station and drop it to you 8 miles away...

However there is a kebab shop 30 yards from where you are at the sudden death. Do you go 8 hours without eating or pop to the kebab shop to get a burger to eat in the car????

Is that just an excuse??

People who have awful teeth are usually people on low incomes.

In your bag in the boot of the car yes but it all depends on what you have brought inÖ It's easy to say just bring in cold food but in the summer that needs to be refrigerated and in the winter sometimes you want something hot...

Many times, especially since the Tory cuts you don't even get to eat as you are literally flat out for the entire shift.
