Cornish people support immigration but complain when tourists turn up that their local public services will be overwhelmed. Then they complain when tourists don't turn up that the local economy and jobs are being destroyed*

*I believe Wales has the same type of people just ask Simon Calder.

Amusing and accurate. I could add a few to them! Like the number of retired men who wear beards.

They aren't though oddballs here. They are completely normal.

That's untrue. The concern this year was when people were coming here during the lockdown, either to second homes or to rented accommodation. Trying to ensure that the health service wasn't overwhelmed was in everyone's best interests.

Since it's been eased we have seen a large number of visitors, all this year from the UK and virtually none from abroad. That's continuing into Autumn.

I suppose I should be flattered by the interest, but as there a few incorrect assumptions thought I would correct them.

So presumably you didn’t own a business for very long as most of your life you worked in the food industry

It's the same thing.

I had planned on having a holiday in Cornwall this year but when I saw the warm welcome politicians were giving that went right out the window. They want your money they just don't want you.

So “ not in our backyard” then!

“I don't. I express my own pov. If my arguments change yours that's fine but at the end of the day they are yours and not mine. We each have a vote”

And therein lies my whole point. At no point do you consider someone else’s argument may change your point of view. Your entire writing style is arrogant and patronising, so much so you’re either a troll or genuinely just that conceited.

So call it what you like. Blinkered, inflexible, dogmatic, - like the girl who yelled “nazi, nazi, nazi” in the face of the Trump supporter the irony seems somewhat lost on you.

You’re Holmesdale’s very own Diane Abbot. Like when she continually stated how immoral private schools were yet sent her son to one. Telling everyone how wrong they are for something but doing what benefits you irrespective of the hypocrisy involved.

Man calls you a horse - punch him in the face

Second man calls you a horse - call him a jerk

Third man calls you a horse - time to start getting fitted for a saddle.

I worked in the food industry for almost 40 years.

I have owned two businesses. The first whilst I was employed, so it was entirely run under management. I just provided investment and direction. The second immediately after I took an early retirement, which I owned and developed for 10 years before selling it on. Now I have some rental properties, which keep me busy from time to time.

Oh I am well aware of Thomas Clarkson and his statue. I walked often past it on my way to the town centre. I never though ever noticed any tourists there. I have often wondered if you worked at the school named after him and how ironic that might be if true, given your comparative characters. I am also aware of the town's history but not of any tourist interest in it. We get more than our fair share of tourists here. Would you like me to divert a few to you? Maybe run tours for special interest groups, like people interested in masochism or oddball characters? I can think of three that go straight on the list. Tony Martin, Victoria Gillick and a certain member of this website.

Amusing that you seek to call others oddballs.

However, no one needs to be out of the ordinary to realise that you're full of the smelly stuff.

How on earth do you know if my views get changed by another's? Of course they do. However, it's not very likely to happen on these particular pages. There are though many occasions when I read something that causes me to reflect and change my mind.

So call it what you like. Blinkered, inflexible, dogmatic, - like the girl who yelled “nazi, nazi, nazi” in the face of the Trump supporter the irony seems somewhat lost on you.

Without knowing what the "Trump supporter" had themselves been saying or doing it's impossible to know whether describing them as a "Nazi" was ironic or not, or indeed whether yelling it at them appropriate.

You’re Holmesdale’s very own Diane Abbot. Like when she continually stated how immoral private schools were yet sent her son to one. Telling everyone how wrong they are for something but doing what benefits you irrespective of the hypocrisy involved.

I am not the least bit like Diane Abbott, and not for the obvious reasons. She is a left-wing bigot. I am not. You are fully entitled to whatever views you want. So though am I!

Third man calls you a horse - time to start getting fitted for a saddle.

I learned a very long time ago that being surrounded by people with different opinions doesn't mean anything. It most certainly doesn't mean they are right. It's much more likely they are just gathered together for mutual confirmation of their own biases. Many times I have stood up to enormous pressure to come into line and join the crowd, refuse and subsequent be rewarded by finding out I was right all along. Having the courage of your convictions sets you apart. I am comfortable being there. Don't you worry.
