There are several mRNA vaccines in development. Both the Moderna and the Pfizer vaccines use the mRNA approach. Moderna has been ordered by the UK govt to the tune of 5 million doses, Pfizer something like 30m.

The Oxford vaccine does not, and helpfully we have 100m doses coming if approved, so this should be the mainstream option for the UK.

And 4 quid not 16 quid.
Basically these companies will sew it up between them but tbh I dont care. Just get this thing done.

Thanks, that clears up where the most likely vaccine for me and my missus is coming from so I’ll swot up on that one. I’ll make it clear I’m not an anti vaxxer, I’m just cautious about anything non alcoholic that I put in my body

I’ve no experience of this and you might be right in cases of families but I know a house of 3 generations that currently all have it with loss of taste and smell but not much more. They’re also very tired. They have an old gran in the house so it is a concern but they’re quite calm about it all apparently.

If you all catch it at the same time you may be ok. If you catch it off someone with whom you are in close contact who is shedding a lot of the virus, there is a greater chance it gets deep into your lungs before your system has ramped up its defences.

I think self tests may be the giving the false pos and negs.
I saw how far the swab goes up the nose when done by the testers.
You will not do that on your own.
Its here and it's real.
My mrs is sleeping like nothing before.
Obs hoping it doesnt get worse but my god this is no conspiracy. She normally sleeps with one eye open. I've even got control of dinners this week.
Poor boys
Seriously never seen her like this so take it as real please.

You must be worried mate. But the stats are pretty clear, not too old and female is generally ok. Those people I know that really had symptoms found it nastier than flu and the symptoms changed over time. But they recovered after around a week and all fine now.

Not given to those under 65 for free was it.....unless you were included in an at risk group.

Interesting....that's actually very reasonable.

Mind you....if you're not in a group at risk quite unnecessary.

Then again, if you are self employed that's probably not a bad insurance idea compared to losing a week's work.

Thought this was interesting. Glad I've not been in Mexico or Argentina through this. Belgium's pretty horrendous too.

Best assessment of how different countries have fared that I've seen.

Living down here does have some advantages. At least you can see them cry.

Access to vaccines is an interesting metric - what about ranking the country science contribution to vaccine development.
