However home ownership was possible in most areas of the country without inheritance. Now it’s virtually impossible unless you save for a very long time - difficult to do while renting and average house prices being 9 times higher than average salaries. You couldn’t necessarily accuse boomers for this but many are oblivious to the fact they’ll make it worse with their demands and to stay alive as close to 100 as possible.

Been done to death already I know, but…

Yep, though I think the lack of focus on house building by multiple governments of both camps has more to answer for than the natural survival instinct.....though I agree that covid encouraged a somewhat distorted list of priorities.

‘’Not in this (my) area’’

Instead you get £400k+ flats going up in any spot possible in zones 5 and 6. And they wonder why birthdates in Britain are falling. Estate agent windows look very different now - to not put people off and convince hunters and hopers there are properties in the roads and areas people know of in the area.

Yep, it goes back to that planting proverb, most of them couldn't give a monkey's.

They will vote for parties and politicians who ruin the country, but god forbid anything happens in their area.

Do you not think we are being somewhat forced to live longer.
What with lectures on diet, lifestyle and the like.
I smoke, drink and eat crap.
I defo won’t see 100 but what I don’t do too much of is stress about things.
What will be will be. On our path of life every second we make an A or B choice.
From crossing the road, to how fast we drive to what we eat. One day it’s the wrong choice and bingo, game over. Life is a game of chance.

It's the natural exploitative nature of humanity, which religion teaches against but which nihilism embraces just with the change of warm words to justify it.

It's like the drowning man who instinctively drags down the nearest to him, drowning them too.....actually being encouraged by modern culture to do that.....rather than the culture advising against the urge.

The boomers (obviously not all) were the first generation raised to put their individual interests first over their group interests.....it's obviously compounded since.

That middle paragraph reminded me of lots of working people here slagging off the train drivers for getting a decent wage-trying to drag them down to slave labour wages, rather than drag themselves up!

The pay a job receives should reflect both its difficulty and hence the merit of the people qualified for it and also its importance within society.

Obviously, we all are aware of jobs that we think are over paid and also under paid. I don't know enough about the jobs within the sector.

Have you not been advocating for more EU nationals to be allowed to work at the airports? What sort of wage/t&cs do you think they are on?
Sorry Becky just seen your post!
