Slightly off topic - but staying on the Pie & Mash theme - there is a new Pie & Mash outlet on the Selsdon Parade (opposite side of the road from the Sir Julian Huxley) I really feel for the owners, just invested in a new shop, decorated & fitted out, then 5 mins after they opened along comes the lock down, they have had no time at all to trade & recoup any of their original investment.

If they can see this out and hope they do then they will reap rewards for their efforts. Old style bad for you food will be the new good. Who knows when the big man is goner drag you upstairs after this.

Polls reveal 80% agree on the lockdown whereas stats reveal mobility on the roads is somewhere about 30-40% off that of normal looking at the line graph with the US and Germany nearly up at normal levels. I can’t find said line graph but anyone will admit the roads aren’t 80% emptier than normal. Really shouldn’t be surprised. This is Britain.

There’s now a bit of virtue signalling going on with this, just like the Thursday clap. They don’t want to appear selfish and be noticed by the neighbours. Probably planning which country they can holiday in asap, and I don’t blame them. Part of me thinks we should get some enjoyment in before a possible repeat in the Autumn/Winter.

Meanwhile in America the Democrat blue states are pro lockdown and the Republican red states are anti lockdown.

Local shops might benefit from the work from home professionals but I doubt a pie n mash shop in selsdon will. I think that kind of food is doomed to fail anyway tbh. If I was going to open up a shop like that I’d have done a street survey. There’s not many very close parking options either.

And that spicy carob-y chilli vinegar they have.
I’m feeling a bit homesick now. Saveloys aren’t generally on sale in Scotland and I’m pining for sav and chips as well.

It’s been pointed out that rather than clapping people should diet a bit and cut out fags and booze which would help the NHS a lot more than a round of applause.

Mmm, sav and chips, couple of wallies and a pickled egg... yum.

There aren’t many things I miss, or can’t get here, but there’s one of them.

If you could I hope Rennies are available too. Wallies and pickled eggs are a combustible mix.

Former convict Troy Deeney wont return to training due to COVID-19 concerns.

[Link]

Deeney, jailed for 10 months in 2012 for repeatedly carring out a gratiutous attack, with friends, on a student by kicking him relentlessly in the head whilst the victim lay injured on the floor, has expressed concerns about the safety of his family.

The £65k a week professional is concerned he may expose his family to the virus. Deeney has recently moved to a £1.5m home in Clavdon, Warwickshire, where he upset his new neighbours by throwing a party in October with 100 guest and music blaring until 3.30am.

Compaired to many footballers, he is worried that in his relatively small property it will be impossible to stop spreading the virus between him, his wife, and his two children that live there.

Following reciept of a fine for dangerous driving in September 2019, Deeney is fearful that he may lose his licience for speeding whilst driving to and from training in one of his supercars along England's empty road network.

Watford training sessions are rounowned for being full on contact. Aging Deeney who hasn't played most of the season due to injury and declining ability is trying to identify COVID save ways of employing Watford's tactic of rotationally hacking their oponents best player.

With the media full of stories about Premiership footballs charitable endevours to keep sex workers employed during the lock down, combative players do not know what exotic deseases they will be exposed to during a game. Expecially when their intent is to cut another player open with late tackles.

(I'd like to appologies for any statements in this post which may portray sex workers negatively and my spelling)

As Watford only seem to perform well when Deaney plays I fully agree with his stance.

I thought he was about to say his child(ren) were in a vulnerable category. If he can’t play then he can’t be paid. He could make arrangements to keep his multi million pound profession going. Maybe he’s thinking the time off might prolong his career.

British media is overwhemlingly pro lockdown and the British have a history of believing their leaders....despite all the evidence.

The nanny state mentality is strong in the UK and the government only have themselves to blame for encouraging it.

They have given the commitment that the state will help significantly with their wages and on this scale it's all completely nuts.
