The Corona virus Conservatives dithered and delayed and caused this s**t to be much worse. Roll your eyes at the facts as much as you like.

Do you think another party would have done different then? Are the experts in the country Conservative experts? Perhaps there are Labour or Liberal Democrat experts that would have given different advice to the Government. There is some rubbish spouted on here but this really does take the biscuit.

Not sure I agree, what did they dither and delay? If you are talking about closing schools then I think they got it right and IMO have only closed them now due to the vocal/left wing teachers union. Should they have caused mass hysteria when not necessary. Letís not lose sight that this has all been caused by the Chinese and their disgusting habits, who, not surprisingly were very tardy in producing true facts and figures.

True as stated previously my wife works for Border Force and had come face to face with passengers from China and all over Europe. WE doesnít seem to think that put her at risk.
Unfortunately I think big business took priority but now those same businesses are reaping what they sow

I agree with you if those assumptions are correct but the some of the information (e.g. coming out of the US today) suggests that it's significantly dangerous to younger people. There is so much fake news it's very difficult to understand exactly where we are.

Young people think theyíre invincible. I did. There will be a percentage of young people dying from contracting the virus. Something I found out from a medical professional when she responded to the idea of trying to catch it. adopting safe practices these risks can be minimised.

Having nobody working or doing anything will take years and years to recover from. At the moment a lot of young people think theyíre not at risk so maybe scaring them will work in the spread fighting practices and hygiene. Or maybe they might not think about themselves only if death is more of a possibility than they thought.

The European stats say they arenít in danger but there they arenít having london nights out or Florida beach booze parties. Not everyone has got the message, or wants to, to pause their own amusement for a couple of months. Not surprised.

What I actually said was that all front line workers face a degree of risk and that this needs to be managed appropriately. With such a fast moving situation, and the constantly changing advice, what was acceptable yesterday may not be today. We are all in this together, on a learning curve like never before. I actually offered some suggestions, albeit from a non expert perspective, on how the risk might be lessened, just as an example.

I heard this today too. Unlike many I am actually much busier at the moment than normal but am doing my work completely alone, so safely. So I have the radio on for company and get all the updates and speculation. What our own expert said when questioned about this was that it has always been true that younger people can contract the virus but that their symptoms will often go almost unnoticed and unrecorded. Only if a younger person has a serious pre-existing condition is it likely to be life threatening but as they can easily infect others, without even realising they are themselves infected, that it's essential that they too practise social distancing. Older people are more at risk primarily because more of them have one or more pre-existing conditions.

The good news I heard today, which doesn't seem to have received much attention, is that work is well underway to develop an "anti-body" test which will tell if somebody has had the virus and is therefore safe to resume normal activities, ie go back to work. This will not just benefit the NHS staff but everybody. Johnson described it as a "game changer" and I think it really could be just that. It is still a month or two away but if we can get through those months then things could start to look brighter.

I heard a theory that the 1918 flu pandemic was particularly dangerous to younger people because their immune system was so much stronger. Their systems couldnít cope with the overwhelming effect of the response to infection.
No idea if thatís true.

Yes, a bit counter intuitive, but I think when the body is attacked by a virus it goes into overdrive fighting the infection, an immune system imbalance can lead to multiple organ failure - the virus getting more powerful due to the strength of a bodies resistance.

Invincible? There's photos doing the rounds of social media of young people doing the 'Corona Challenge' - the stupid bloody idiots are posting photos of themselves licking toilet seats, doorknobs and anything else they can think of!
