Spoke to a professional golf coach this morning in the long queue at the back of the car park at 7.45, 15 minutes before doors open and he was telling me about his work drying up.

Only pre booked lessons now. No new bookings, not even from people financially unaffected by this. He promises a good distance from clients but nobody wants to book. I suppose it does get windy but unless when the government messages are reassuring enough when things are safer then dear me there are problems ahead. Anybody in non essential sales or services has a big hole coming.

Secondly what's rice as it's a product I'd long forgotten about since last spotted weeks ago

I bought a 4 kilo bag this morning for the family in isolation. Glad I did and it didn’t get taken by a cvnt, although there is the argument that cvnts and the scared started it and the scared or people who feel they now have to are continuing the problem.

The supermarkets need to take action. Lower the max to 2. Large packs need to be shelved (pun intended) for a while, and keep some back out the back.

Yes. Anyone who posts on forums throughout the day can't be classified as a key worker.

My wife tries to convince me to position her as key worker (there is a referral for bankers as well) because nursery said school will remain open only for children of key workers & both of us working from home is a bit challenging with 2 kids that one of them is 2.

My answer is no as i will keep saving £1350 a month..

I think a danger of people thinking I’m overstocking because I can see regular early supermarket shops I’d ideally urge people to plan ahead with me and use the OAP windows that have been made available. Plus I’m a mixture of generous and other.

The Tesco email...

‘To ensure our more vulnerable and elderly customers can shop in-store, we will prioritise one hour every Monday, Wednesday and Friday morning between 9-10am (except in our Express stores) and ask that you respect this.

Tesco store colleagues can't work from home and a good number of them will need to respond to personal or family challenges connected with dealing with COVID-19. So we would please ask that you understand the challenging environment in which we are all working. If you do go in-store and want to say thank you, then I'm sure they'd appreciate it.’

Low paid shop workers are now relied upon and appreciated. Who’d have thought that before?

I would call the day before or days before to confirm they’re store is doing this and at which times.

All the supermarkets:

Iceland are opening one or two hours early for the elderly – find which store is doing this here

Sainsburys are opening their doors to the elderly and vulnerable customers ONLY today (Thursday, March 19)

Morrisons will use 9am to 10am every day from Monday to Saturday to provide more help to the elderly and vulnerable customers

Lidl are allowing only the pensioners in for the first two hours in all stores across Ireland – but have not replicated in England, Wales or Scotland so far

Tesco are opening the store to just over-65s and their carers for the first hour in Ireland – they have yet to repeat this across the UK
(Looks to have changed so obviously phone before)

you haven't been delivering unseasonally large amounts of mayonnaise by any chance?

It would be nice if the government legislated to give shop staff higher wages. Maybe an extra couple of pounds an hour or something. Same for critical health care workers. As both are low paid but now almost the most important jobs.

Chatting to a friend who works in Sainsbury and I laughingly said that at least you get first dibs at the food but she told me that the manager didn't allow that and they had to shop when they have finished their shift just like everyone else

They have canceled all the sports.....but there is still live boxing going on at Tesco's, Morrison's, Sainsbury's and all major supermarkets. (Anon)

Get closer and I can. Don’t get excited. It’s from squeezy bottles.

Couldn’t believe it when I saw the Cass Pennant in Warlingham Sainsbury’s this morning. He was a co leader of West Ham’s ICF in the early ‘80s. Even he’s probably had enough of Penge or wherever.

As I said before. Glad I live in a dull leafy area like Caterham away from animals.

What’s the point of Boris asking people to not frequent pubs and restaurants if you then have business owners on television and radio such as Tim Martin saying ‘there’s hardly been any transmission of the virus within pubs’ (how on Earth he would quantify that is another question). If we are serious about limiting the damage this illness is going to do to the elderly surely we need some strong leadership from our PM.

Business owners putting their bottom line before public health is reckless and worrying.
