I’d say I’m in the crowd that are prepared to make a tiny sacrifice if I’m told it’s to the benefit of vulnerable people.
I’m okay, no underlying health conditions, my fitness is top 10% for age and gender (I run and cycle lots). It’s not for my benefit.

Interesting that this issue is now getting some mainstream news coverage and goes some way to explaining why the case count is going up but not the hospitalisations or deaths.

Cool, if you choose to believe, but on that score an argument could be made that you also shouldn't stop.

Infectious diseases won't stop after this and everytime go outside the same idea that you could have something that could be potentially killing someone still remains true.

As we know life has always been about risk/benefit
Everytime you step outside...hell, step in a car you are risking lives, the faster you travel the higher the risk....you hit a human over 30 miles an hour and the risk of death increases significantly.

Do you stop driving? I view this as a personal position....unfortunately there are a lot of people (I'm not saying you) prepared to decide for others based upon their interpretations.

Plenty of these people wouldn’t lift a finger to actually help anyone. That’s where we’ve gone wrong.

I am shortly off to Poland for a holiday. When I return to Heathrow I would quite happily pay for a test at the airport for peace of mind. I live in a block of flats with elderly neighbours I would rather be safe than sorry.

However Heathrow whilst pushing the government to introduce mandatory testing are not offering it voluntary to passangers which seems odd, I am not expecting a freebie.

Most people would not pay £100 but on every flight there might be some like me who would Heathrow could also demonstrate to the government that the process was working.

As long as I am feeling healthy when I get back I don't have to quarantine however I probably will stay in doors for a week just in case a test would negate that.

I read only 7% of positives will be picked up at airports.

Isn’t there a possible 5 day incubation period where you’re infectious but asymptomatic and won’t show up as positive on a test?

Can you order a test delivered from anywhere?

I'm with Rudi on this one. It's commendable to try to protect elderly in your block of flats, but it can take several days before symptoms show and people are thought to be contagious two day before that. So you'd be more likely to get an accurate result 5-7 days in rather than at the airport.

What you could do after your trip, as an option anyway, would be to wear a good quality mask in communal areas, lifts and so on for a few days. As with everything it's a bit of a compromise between getting on with your life and being considerate towards others.

My plan is to self isolate for 7 days. 2 of my neighbours will do my shopping but I was hoping to find a short cut, I guess not.

I don't see much point in sending away for a test by the time that cycle is done I will have done my 7 days.

Thanks anyway

Here's to a good holiday over there in Poland Badger.

It's a shame we don't have a version of Dominik Tarczynski here.

Yes I agree with this. There are times and places where it is difficult or impossible to make sure you’re not a risk to people who will be at risk and of course your conscience would play havoc.

Thanks I fly next Saturday assuming I can still go to Poland and Extinction Rebellion don't block the runway.
