Again, I urge people to listen to the interview. This isn't about the interviewer, who I don't know much about it's about whether the information coming from the surgeon of 30 years is true or not. Everything else is a distraction.

From the tone of your response, it sounds as though you would like the public to vote in a referendum on the best way to handle this. Great idea. Brexit was daft. That would be even dafter. We employ experts. You may not like what they conclude, but that's their job. You are very unlikely to actually know better. I have read some of the other things this lady has said, and it's clear what her political position is. Even in this interview, she was asking heavily loaded questions. She isn't a journalist at all. She is an activist. Trust her at your peril. Is all this the current 'one party conservative' line?

If the "surgeon of 30 years" has suddenly, in retirement, found a new notoriety and is enjoying the attention, as he apparently does, is then asked a series of loaded questions, by an advocate of a particular politically inspired position, then those things aren't distractions at all. They are context, and context matters. By all means, listen to the interview, but do so with the context in mind. I have little doubt Dr Tony Hinton is a decent, caring guy who is concerned for people in his speciality who have been impacted by the pandemic's demands on the NHS. He isn't though the Health Secretary, or one of his advisers, whose job it is to look at the bigger picture.
For the avoidance of doubt any comments in response to a previous post are directed to its ideas and not at any, or all, posters personally. |

You will spin like the Mole on Thunderbirds and then say you have proved something. That is not objectivity, just bluster. And, objectively, if you want a really warm winter jacket use the one traditionally used by mountain climbers as I recommended. Also you will need a hard shell outer jacket if going out in wet or extremely windy conditions. Sometimes I wonder if you ever leave Wisbech.

I don't regard it as an unreasonable description....really weird position to take within the context of the discussion but there you go....I'm not saying you agree with them though, you probably got caught up with countering your political opposites. I think you are right about the jacket there....but I wanted an all in one and so got myself a Ski Jacket.....Well, I went ski clothing mad and brought the trousers and socks as well.

Only when I take a break during the day, which I need to do a little more these days. Then I check my emails, look at the news and see what's going on in the forums I populate. I am not much for daytime TV and prefer the radio, although the snooker has been pretty good. I can multitask and type pretty quickly, having been early into computer keyboards. By the time I have drunk my cuppa I am up and doing other things, although tonight I have been correcting the English in a 2000 word article for a friend.

There are some people who you would never buy a computer keyboard from as the " I " would be worn out.
Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |

But at what cost to human life and economic prosperity? Up to 100 million people are thought to have died from Spanish flu, which was the most recent pandemic and closest comparative to Covid. That was when the world population was much smaller and international travel almost unknown in comparison to today. Imagine what the consequences of Spanish flu spreading unchecked in today's world, and you can start to imagine what might have been without the vaccines. Earlier pandemics would have been somewhat contained by a lack of travel and less crowded lifestyles, but we know they occurred. This is the problem humans. I'd like you to understand the arrogance of your reply. But I doubt that you can.
