However I am more than concerned with his comments around he doesnt know what else we could do. How about try something different.. if your tactics and personnel has resulted in 6 straight losses prior to this game.. try something different.. players, tactics, formation.. something. Hes too stubborn for his own good. In my opinion he does some of these things as a display to Parish and co.

Some straightforward facts.
Seven defeats in a row, Roy has got to go.
Bereft of any ideas to pull us out of our slump.

"Hello Steve, you wanted to see me?"
"Yes Roy, please take a seat. Firstly let me thank you for securing another year in the Premiership in what have been trying circumstances. What I really wanted to talk to you about is our recent alarming form. 8 games, 8 losses, this isn't very good at all, and to top it off you appear to have lost the players too. Overall, how do you think the season has gone, and how do you envisage next season?"

If we finish the season with 8 consecutive defeats and then start the new season under Hodgson with say another 2 defeats what should the club do then?
This is not inconceivable.
I suppose what I’m trying to establish from the Hodgson fans is whether they believe there’s a point at which it would be better for club and manager to part company.
I know some would like him to continue indefinitely despite his one year deal.

I think what will happen, and we are likely all feeling the same way whether we are Roy in or Roy out is, is that he will be given minimal money to spend on new players and will start the next campaign. And take it from there. I'm a Roy outer, but cant honestly say I see him going, even after the loss to spurs.

Surely people cannot still defend Hodgson? He says we need to get through these last games and then start next season with a clean slate. But next season is only 7-8 weeks away - does anyone really believe Hodgson is suddenly going to get in some younger players (and use them?) and get us suddenly scoring again?

When they arrived at Huddersfield, the club were second from bottom and when they left they were 18th out of 24.

It would appear that the club and the Cowleys were not on the same wavelength in terms of the way forward and Huddersfield have approached one of Bielsa's assistants as a replacement.

As Willo says, they did a job in difficult circumstances. They would find us in the same boat, just a division higher. Who else is there if we got rid of Roy?

As I have mentioned, it would appear that the 'Hodgson OUT' camp is growing by the day but I have also been in conversation with those who recognise what he has achieved in keeping us in the PL for 3 seasons with a very limited spend and an aged squad.

It's not Hodgson that gets the players in though is it ?

Of course it is - he had been publicly wanting McCarthy since he got here and presumably Kouyate was his choice - both have been poor at best.

Let's face facts and the harsh reality of the situation we are in. Old, tired squad. Little sign of the youth coming through and if there is then Roy does his best to ignore them. What we do have cannot be ready for the rigours of prem football.

Yes Roy has to go but who do we get to replace him? Plenty of names being bounded about but who would want to come to a club with an aging squad, no real money to spend, over paid over blown players on crazy wages, a club likely to go into decline with dropping crowds and lower season ticket sales (partly covid but mainly crap football).

Been going since 1967 and seem some real rubbish teams and seasons but like a mug I'll be back for more when Boris and his Merry men set us free.

Roll on next season! Up The Palace!!!

I am enjoying being back at Selhurst and having a beer with my mates just like we have done for the past 40 years. Through Thick and thin we stick with our club. Not chairman, players or managers, OUR CLUB!

So which is it then ??

McCarthy and Ayew were both what I would call ' proper ' Roy signings in as much as he wanted the individuals not just recruiting for a particular position.

Otherwise it's up to Freedman to research the market and get the deals done.

I'm not overly impressed with McCarthy but at least Ayew has had a very good season. But of course you won't give Hodgson any credit for that will you ?

If we had a decent team with no injuries and we lost 10 games on the trot then I would be screaming fro him to be gone but the facts are very different, We have a desperate squad to start with and lots of injuries and no manager would get that team playing well.

It's the same all year people calling for team changes when there are no changes to be made. The team picks itself week in and out. The only reason we are still in this division is Hodgson.
