This summer presents a conundrum for the club. We’re strongly linked with Ferguson (WBA), Gallagher (Chelsea - on loan at Swansea) and Eze (QPR). These are the type of young promising players that we should be seeking. In the light of the experience with Meyer, Sorloth and Riedewald there must be huge concerns whether Hodgson can be entrusted with the use and development of young players that join. Hodgson is very methodical in his approach and in general prefers working with experienced senior players who follow his instructions to the letter. If Hodgson stays a case could be made for more short term deals and loans of experienced players who at least he would utilise. Doesn’t move the club forward and is a short term measure, but do we really need to buy more young players that Hodgson won’t use.

If Hodgson stays a case could be made for more short term deals and loans of experienced players who at least he would utilise.
Doesn’t move the club forward and is a short term measure, but do we really need to buy more young players that Hodgson won’t use.

The problem with giving Roy money, is that come the end of next season he probably will have retired. So any incoming manager is left with what he bought, and they could be ill suited for the new manager. Therefore if funds are going to be made available, which quite frankly I doubt, then a new manager is also required as well.

Think that's is the preferred way out I just have doubts over our ability as a club to deliver on supplying the fresh faces. The Ferguson deal has gone very quiet. In theory a free transfer but looks like we would have to pay 4 mill in compensation. He has been injured and although we were willing to pay 11mill in Jan I have a feeling that Covid will hit the transfer kitty and we are now not willing to risk 4 mill on him. Doesn't bode well for us to be able to pay more for any flair players. I seriously doubt we will sign anything other than a couple of token younger free squad players. Roy will have to do with what he has got next season.

If fans knew the situation I think it is more likely they would get behind Roy and the players. A bit of humility rather than silence would go a long way.

I wrote this post in August 2017: "Interesting perspective on our American friends. I was very underwhelmed when they announced the 50M investment. The two teams they are associated with (Flyers and 76ers) have excelled in mediocrity for years. Since I live in Canada, I get to see the Flyers regularly and its not very impressive or exciting compared to those teams investing and building a winning formula. These two operators are not the kind of folk I would have chosen as investors who would support a winning team. I wonder if they have more say or force in the conversation than their equity would suggest they should. Apparently they are not shy to express their views and of course they are soccer experts! Board shenanigans we will not see - but I wonder what is going on in those transatlantic calls." The problems with the squad and manager begin and end in the boardroom .... we have lousy owners who have a track record of only being interested the returns on their equity. Of course, CPFC is a business like anything else, but there will be no passion for success from the Yanks and they probably have Parish's nuts in a vice!

"Interesting perspective on our American friends. I was very underwhelmed when they announced the 50M investment. The two teams they are associated with (Flyers and 76ers) have excelled in mediocrity for years. Since I live in Canada, I get to see the Flyers regularly and its not very impressive or exciting compared to those teams investing and building a winning formula. These two operators are not the kind of folk I would have chosen as investors who would support a winning team. I wonder if they have more say or force in the conversation than their equity would suggest they should. Apparently they are not shy to express their views and of course they are soccer experts! Board shenanigans we will not see - but I wonder what is going on in those transatlantic calls."

The problems with the squad and manager begin and end in the boardroom .... we have lousy owners who have a track record of only being interested the returns on their equity. Of course, CPFC is a business like anything else, but there will be no passion for success from the Yanks and they probably have Parish's nuts in a vice!

Also coupled with the fact that SP wants others to put up money but for him to decide where to spend it. He is scared (rightly or wrongly) to give others control incase they undo his hard work.
