You're claim was that they were Sunday League quality.

My fact was that out of the last bench, 5 players had played international.

I'll pop down the park on sunday and ask the local side how many of their players have had a call up for Germany.

Not really word play is it?

Reidewald might well be a current international if he got a look in.

I have already said that my Sunday League comment was an exaggeration. Meyer played for Germany 5 years ago, half a football career. It means absolutely nothing today while he sits on our bench.

Hodgson seems to have divided the fanbase more than any other manager in my 50 years supporting the club.
This may be due to the internet age which gives everyone a voice and seems to heighten emotions.
One observation I would make is that some of Hodgson’s critics acknowledge the decent job he has done in the past and the constraints he’s worked under .
They still want a change however.
On the other hand the Hodgson supporters won’t hear a single word against him and every criticism, even minor, is blamed on Parish, Freedman, the Yanks, Benteke, the squad etc.
Hodgson should be known as Teflon man as nothing sticks.

Don’t get me wrong, when Pardew went it was the right time, but it doesn’t make his whole reign a bad one - it was good in parts but it reached a point where he didn’t know how to get us out of the rut we were in; I view the situation with Roy the same.

Why is it you can recognise that Pardew was going to take us down and should have been sacked, yet now, with a considerably worst run of form, you go on as if it’s idiocy to want the same for Roy?

15/16 we finished 15th with 42 points, scored 39 goals in the league and reached a cup final with a squad that was no better (arguably worst) than the current one. Absolutely I would swap that for this.

I agree. Hodgson's Premier League points per game is only a bit ahead of Pardew's now and at least the latter gave us some more exciting football and a Cup Final. We bowed out of both cups straightaway in what is arguably the most boring season in our history

Just watched the interview with Hodgson who blamed the defeats on the coronavirus which ‘hadn’t done us any favours.’
Didn’t seem to affect other clubs in the league or have an impact on the Bournemouth game after which he was targeting Europe.
Another excuse for the Hodgson apologists to latch onto..

Well there's something wrong with your observational skills then.

Most of Hodgson's critics blame him for anything and everything and one of them earlier today claimed that that he was an idiot that should never had a career in football. Seriously...

I've backed Hodgson all the way while acknowledging that the football has been dull and unenjoyable to watch.

And now we are back to going over the same old points again ;

1. No backing in the transfer market - are you going to dispute that ?

2. Doesn't give youth a chance. Well he did tonight and it wasn't exactly AWB all over again was it ? ( saying that I think Mitchell is decent and he was up against a very good opponent and playing in a team that's had it's confidence shot to pieces ). But we do not have a group of capable youngsters being denied a chance.

3. His objective - given by his boss - is keep the club in the Premier League - has he or has he not achieved that ?

This club has been run on a short term basis more or less since promotion in 2013. It continues to do that by offering Roy another 12 month deal.

The reason I stick up for Hodgson is that he has not been able to view the job as a ' project ' which is the management buzzword in football. It's all about the next season and not beyond that.

I said a few weeks ago that it's difficult to make a case for any manager that loses 8 games in a row, which looks likely. And I stand by that - I could understand Parish reaching an agreement that allows Roy his dignity to depart gracefully.

But the author of this mess is Parish. And I say that reluctantly because I know how much the club means to him.

It's been a 1 year project season on season and this only has a limited shelf life.
Hodgson has been given a 1 year contract!

Thank you, Neillo. Thank Christ there are still one or two people here who actually understand the bigger picture.

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham
