No one is in favour of racism but this is a meaningless gesture that makes the footballers feel good without them having to do anything. Compared to Spain and other countries the level of racist abuse in this country is nothing and when it happens is treated seriously by the authorities. In Spain Vinicius has received disgraceful treatment and not been supported by the authorities. If the players are serious they should walk off the pitch, refuse to play teams with racist supporters and even boycott UEFA and FIFA competitions until the authorities take proper action instead of paltry fines. I wont hold my breath.

If it's not for you, engage your attention in something else for a matter of seconds and it will all be over - it's not even close to accurate to suggest a silent protest which occupies about 10 seconds, before the game even starts, is being 'rammed down your throat' and to the detriment of people's enjoyment of the match. If you oppose the protest, at least own your reasons and stop pretending it's anything to do with the matchday experience.

Its got everything to do with the matchday experience, its part n parcel of going to a game. If you like it, fine, but don't spit your dummy out at me. There are better & more established ways to fight racism, equality etc. Taking the knee ain't gonna change anything. IMO. My objection is more about ‘why?’, as I see that it has caused more division than anything else. Was George Floyd British? No. Was he killed by a British national? No. Was he killed on British soil? No. It was/is nothing to do with us and yet whilst everybody is trying to move on, this farce continues to be carried out. Wilf was correct that it has lost its meaning. It’s just boring now.

Those 4 seconds don't have any impact on the matchday experience, except in your own head.

There are loads of protests I don't agree with, but I don't think they shouldn't be allowed to take place - particular when they are as inoffensive as silently taking a knee for a few seconds.
