Unfortunately you have shown yourself to have a lack of understanding of! football. You seem to be confused on the difference between passing and a players speed deteriorating due to age, which is natural. I didn’t mention speed. Keep up.

There’s been plenty of examples of managers improving players. Most recently Darren Bent and Danny Murphy commenting that Gerard Houlier not only had he improved them as people but also made the better football players.

Also your just some bloke on the internet, like the rest of us who has an opinion. No need to be a div.

Darren Bent. Danny Murphy. "Most recently".

You're right I think. The next 6 games are critical, all against teams at our level or below us so we should be able to take points from them (I include Wolves too since they can be vulnerable, other teams do them).

Pretty obvious that teams know how to play us and since we never change we are easy pickings to a hungry team trying to avoid relegation.

I can’t see a scenario where we will beat Wolves if we try and play 4-4-2 against them. It’s failed 3 times recently, why would trying the same thing yield a different result.

That means in the next 5 games we’ll need to pick up at least 9 points.

I said at this time last season, I couldn’t see where any more wins would come from, then we narrowly won 4 in a row, which saved our bacon and Roy’s job for another season. Not sure if that will happen two years on the bounce.

I can seeing us pick up points, but not the 9 required. At some point the board will say they have no more confidence left in Roy, I feel that Is going to keep dragging on as people make more and more excuses, then we are going to be left with an unfriendly running and needing to gain points.

Roy can't do anything about injuries - accepted - and so Kouyate is having to fill in at CB when he should really be playing in Midfield.
However - Tuesdays team could have started with Clyne and Reidewald - at least we would have been more mobile.
And given West Ham's set up he just never changed a thing - he just let them boss the game whilst he watched quietly from the touchline and left us all at sea.
I have no idea whether Lampard is the answer - I doubt it to be honest - but Roy seems to have reached the end of the line and Eddie Howe is looking for a job.
Relegation form for the last 10 games - 7 points - and it doesn't look or give the feeling that things are going to improve which is really worrying to me.

Don't think he's filling in for injuries anymore. We have both Dann and Kelly fit and ready to go. Kouyate has been there on the back of consistently good performances...(up until the last one, of course).

A defeat against Wolves on the back of another shambolic performance and I'm afraid Mr Hodgson will be lacerated by our supporters. There will be high-decibel fulmination and strident calls for our manager to be shown the door.

Perhaps the team will surprise us all and we will be able to celebrate a most welcome 3 points with Mateta on the scoresheet!

Who has any confidence in Roy and why?

The team play to the tactics of the manager and in the style he wants.
People criticize the players but they are told to play a certain way.
Its amazing when a new manager comes in, it seems players are suddenly awesome.
Roy has never brought players as happens in many clubs, the board decide who they want and give them to the manager, i.e. Roy to integrate into the team. trouble is how many players did Roy actually give a proper chance to in the right positions.
The team is a reflection of the manager, where are we with Roy?

Eddie Howes players provided to him were selected by analytic staff analysing data of players, just like Brentford do. As for Chelsea, did Lamps really buy those players or they were given to him and said fit them in.....?

It has been stated over the past couple of days that the board had bought players that Lampard had to integrate into the starting line-up.

We came up with Moxey, Delaney and Jedinak. Clearly inferior talented, but gosh they were fighters. Wished the bunch of today could show the same attributes.
Another flat show tomorrow and there must be some change in the leadership - this can not continue.

That all you got haha.. that’s poor.

Not very bright are you? You seem to get easily confused.

If I did play along with your laughably poor attempt at a rebuttal, why would recent or non recent make any difference to my point that mangers can improve players ability.

Apologies I’ll take back my div comment. You are just plain stupid.

To be fair, you have no idea of the recruitment policy at Palace and what analysis is performed on prospective targets.

Brentford are in an entirely different market to us. It would be interesting to see how their ' Moneyball ' tactics fare if they start recruiting players at Premier level.

As for Lampard, what the manager wants at that football club is not necessarily what he gets.

22/2/2021 - after an abject 4-0 defeat to rivals BHA Hodgson finally gets his marching orders and Freedman takes over for the rest of the season.

Should the above actually occur, who would be surprised?

Me for one.

I think Dougie would only go back to managing if he had a loaded gun pointed at his head !

I have already posted about a Freedman/Derry "Dream ticket" and one poster described it as a "Nightmare" !
