4 points from Fulham and United at home sounds fantastic. 2 does not.

Even if we won last night, the 3 points should be from the Fulham game, not the United one. That's where the issue is.

We will inevetiably have the 1 or 2 games a season where we scalp a top 4 team. It's been United, City, Liverpool and Chelsea over the last few seasons.

It's like a 'nice to have' memory but nothing more. It didn't determine our place in the Premier League or make us an attractive prospect for new Players.

If we could attack the lesser teams like we did United last night, we win most of them. Then you can lose all the big games because it doesn't matter.

Or of course you can park the bus and bore a 0-0 out of them if you are playing well all your other games.

As a fan, if we were allowed in Stadiums, I'd love to see Palace show why they are established against Fulham and then midweek turn up with zero expectations, drink a lot of beer, sing a lot of songs aimed at United and then be pleasantly surprised by a 0-0.

You've got to laugh at some of the loons on here, desperate to peddle their own agenda. Accusing Palace fans of wanting to receive a thrashing. All creditability is lost when they throw these baseless accusations. What real palace fan wants to see us lose? Especially when the most committed of posters on this thread that have contributed to the number of pages on this thread have said they will not post their monotonous drivle any longer. Funny. You can just imagine the fervent excitement last night, sock in hand so that they could continue the Roy defence argument today.

Here's a question. Do you reckon pundits read this thread?

In our recent games, different TV talking heads have made reference to supporter disquiet regarding our style of play, translating into questions to Roy. They could have got that from the banner of course, but there has also been some slightly deeper comments on budget, spending, reasonable expectations, a clubs place in the scheme of things, and also the possible effect of having so many players out of contract.

I wonder if they are getting all that from here? If not, then where?

Personally I think this thread has gone from predominantly pointless, sometimes rude and generally circular arguments to a pretty good place to understand the subtleties and nuance (and still to sometimes be rude to each other).

Ten minutes on this thread and any neutral would get a good idea of the juggling act involving how hard it can be to watch us, whether results justify performances, the relative investment on Roy's watch, the debate over how good our squad actually is, what kind of football a club our size can actually play in this league, whether a club can reasonably expect to develop simply through spending time in the top flight, and even what the point is of going up if all you can do after is stay up, and staying up is not enjoyable.

There are no shortage of pundits who struggle to form coherent sentences, and so I doubt they are carrying these pretty big issues around in their heads, particularly in relation to Crystal Palace. I wonder therefore if someone (probably not the pundits themselves) is dipping in here to take the temperature?

Feelings/Opinion.
I do not enjoy poor displays from my team but in this time of fire-fighting, I'm quite pleased with the way results are going. Roy has managed the injury/poor form etc pretty well. OGS with an embarassment of superstars to call on, produced a rather inept/dull Moan Utd display.

If I was in the Roy/SP Out camp, I feel the need to be offering a name to replace him. However, I can't think of any magic hat man that will come here and take us forward. Names already mentioned won't change things (opinion alert).

It may be an idea if the name of this thread is changed to "Manager Out" to save starting a new thread when we get a new man in the hot seat.

We move in the direction of our thoughts.
Just think a little.

Would not be surprised. It is after all a platform for public opinion.
Who knows , Big Toe, you might recognise one of your own quotes one of these afternoons before or after a Palace, game.

There might be some on here who 'Feed' the pundits with information.

I doubt if there are any fans websites, where there aren’t dissenting voices about something. Which goes to prove, it’s impossible to please all fans,

Well, if that's true then let me take this opportunity to remind anyone who may be reading that:

The conviction with which one speaks matters far less than whether one has articulated a coherent, reasoned and preferably evidenced opinion.

I'm looking at you, Patrice Evra, Robbie Savage and Alex Scott!

There, lets see if that gets picked up and debated on BBC, BT or SKY!

I think it will be a mistake to continue with him for another season.

Can you imagine the response from the Holmesdale End
if we serve up more of the appalling rubbish that's been on display ?

The manager and the team would have been booed off the pitch mercilessly in at least 4 of the previous home matches, especially Burnley - that was the lowest of the low.

With the greatest respect to the owners I doubt it as there is a far larger forum devoted to the club as well as sites like Five Year Plan and I can't see any outsider whether pundit or not gleaning anything useful from this forum apart from the fact that everyone seems to disagree with everyone else.

Furthermore one would have to read a forum (any forum) for quite a long time before one could isolate those who post sensible opinions to those who are clueless and I'm afraid that the former are a tiny minority

I suspect many have concluded I am in the "Clueless" category but in the final analysis, the smorgasboard of opinions is all part of the rich tapestry of HOL.

I do try to be as constructive, insightful and informative as I can but alas have to bow down to those who really do add a great deal of value to HOL.

Apropos "Roy out", all I will add is that in life sometimes one only appreciates how valuable that person was when that person is gone.
