My interpretation of Taking the knee now is to show the players support of being against racism, not pro BLM.

However, there is no doubt that the lines have become blurred in this respect. And needs to be properly communicated.

Agreed. And I'm sure the club put out a tweet to that extent not long after taking the knee started?

Taking the knee was originally because of black people being murdered by US police. This originally got on people’s nerves of why copy America as usual. I remember a day or two after George Floyd there was a west London black girl on the radio saying her life was in danger every day she left the house. Seriously?

There’s a certain amount of exaggeration and hysteria in 2020. We then of course had social media videos of young black boys (adult in age) refusing to be searched or arrested and either being helped fighting with the police or passers by give the police grief as they pull a knife out of the detained person’s pocket. And still the police are racist or in the wrong.

What really needs to happen is meaningful changes and not futile rubbish, like AJ has hinted at, you just hope it’s sensible and not written by a black panther type again.

just a boring political axe to grind, all the time.

Whilst I agree with your 2nd paragraph and indeed, he has come out with some very childish posts. tbf he has contributed on football related threads from time to time. More than some others

I fully understand how Taking The Knee originated and where.

As I said, my interpretation is that the players are using the gesture to support their anti racism stance. I really don't have a problem with that personally. What I do have a problem with is how it has been re positioned because I think it is now mis understood and a large number of people still directly associate it with BLM - an organisation which has it's own agenda.

I was involved in an online discussion on this topic last week, one of the participants was Sky Sports, and I challenged them to educate more on this subject.

How about we completely understand what is being claimed and reject the point of view.

You obviously haven't read this thread as these points have been answered.

That's why I put "might" in my comment!

I despair sometimes at the way people only read what they want to see and not what is actually written.

And then complain about bias.

Was that the aim in F1 as well? Or rugby? I wasn’t aware of the same level of racism in the crowds at either or any other sport and racism in football has been reduced to a few incidents a year which get dealt with by lifetime bans and often social media shame.

To highlight how ridiculous this can all get and lose focus from where racism really might be and where it affect the lives of black people, there was some tw@t on Twitter yesterday claiming gardening circles (not crop circles) were racist. No mention that black people mostly live in urban areas currently.

As every day goes by I become more sure that this rubbish means anything meaningful doesn’t happen.

"Taking the knee" isn't done to entertain us!

That's supposed to be the football.

Neither is F1.
Neither is rugby.

This is how the left have worked for decades now.

They take a reasonable position...aka...'racism is unfair'.

Then they use that reasonable position to force people to accept actions that they think are justified....as in bringing more political demonstrations into sporting events.

It's always the same arguments....it's only five seconds....and if you object, 'you're a racist'.

They then use the same justifications to claim that in group thoughts and actions are fine for some groups but not for others based upon oppression.

They inch ahead...for example, black power salutes....well if you object to them 'you're supporting racism'......Suddenly you find yourself a good country mile from the original position and that was the intent all the while.

As for oppression! When all the corporations, governments and organisations agree with them...are forced to enact policies supporting these views by law. What oppression exactly? Seems to me the 'oppression' is choosing to live in a white majority country and looking to change that as fast as possible similar to what was done to religion.

All built off the original position. This is what they do and it's why we now have a 'diversity industry' which employs people to force you to agree with them or lose your job.

It's why if you disagree with them and boo, clubs will look to censor and ban you.

Their views were originally allowed by the right but they don't allow the right's views themselves.

If it was a normal forum you would expect it to be but this isn't normal. Not in my opinion, having had enough experience of internet forums to form one.

This one has accumulated a disproportionate number of posters with similar views that lie outside the mainstream, including some that apparently have been banned from other sites.

That is enhanced by them bullying and ridiculing those who dare to express mainstream views to the point that many just give up in disgust. Those who do stick around must either be extremely patient and tenacious or masochists.

Why this has happened is another question but that it has cannot really be doubted. It is self-evident, even though it will likely be denied by the most culpable.
