My thoughts exactly. Why are they wary? I have not seen any explanation for it.

Misinformation circulating within their communities, generally, but not exclusively, via social media.

The stories include that the vaccines contain genetic material taken from aborted foetuses, upsetting Christians, from cows, upsetting Hindus and from pigs, upsetting Muslims.

How or why these things start is another question.

The answer is now yes. TBF with his health issues and age he would I imagine be in a high risk category.
However I would still like to know whose interests wit best be served by not being vaccinated?

Why do you keep asking that question?

According to SAGE there are other reasons.

The NHS: bastion of racism. What more do people want? It's 50 euro when I visit the doctor, just for the visit. Perhaps people would prefer that?

Suspicion of authorities (not warranted in this case), social media disinformation and the like. We get some of it on here though it definitely appears to be much more prevalent in some quarters than others.

It's unfortunate, but ultimately people have to take responsibility for their own health. Everyone in the at-risk age bracket or with relevant heath issues should get vaccinated. Where they don't it's a decision that is likely to catch up with them, and one many will come to regret.

That research must be correct but both sets of reasons probably contribute. I am aware, through my wife's connections, of some who have been very misled about how the vaccines are produced. On top of this there are those who are convinced that Bill Gates and George Soros and working with the Chinese to insert microchips into us all so they can control us.

When this is finally over it’d be nice if Rishi Rich could find any way of rewarding the people who’ve done so much to help. Not just the volunteers but also the postmen, shop workers, bus drivers and everyone else who has carried on working throughout. With all the billions spent so far it wouldn’t make a huge difference to his depleted coffers.

Well said. 'Essential worker' should be more than just a platitude.

And as for NHS staff, they have truly been in the trenches for a year now. True sacrifice.

It’s a difficult situation if the WHO are pressing for the UK to share vaccines with other countries to stop the spread.
35% of the people in London are from a BAME group which would mean 1 in 5 people in London going unvaccinated. The figures are bound to change as more businesses demand proof of vaccination but there would still be a substantial number of people at risk.

It would appear that the EU are still going to block exports of vaccine.
They are collecting data - allegedly - as to how much is being produced and where it is being sent to at which point they will expect to see a valid export license.
Maybe that is normal - I don't know - but it rather smells of finding new ways to stop us and others receiving what we ordered from EU factories?

The WHO can say what they want and while I have a certain sympathy with the sentiment the UK shouldn't be generous without first ensuring its vulnerable are covered.

Otherwise what's the point.

You can see how these organisations want to be part of a centralised global control system and so are inherently against nationalism.

Only because it was a somewhat bizarre thing to say and wanted clarification, which obviously will not forthcoming
