I think she's pretty tame in relation to current Labour.
Fair point about the schools.

I loathe her and her kind. They are the real enemy. The vomit-inducing supposedly moderate political classes. They do more damage than anybody else.

The damage this woman did to our country is beyond calculable. And she represents a political class who want to reduce us to nothing more than cattle who just follow along with whatever scheme they think whilst herding us toward the abattoir of history.

f*** her and f*** every other soc.lib.

What an extraordinarily graceless post for someone who has just died after a long life. I hope you don't suffer something similar when you hit 90.

Whatever you may think of her, she devoted her life to political and social causes and there are plenty, including myself, who found her a very admirable and honest woman with sound judgement on a wide range of issues.

More than graceless. Pathetic and full of hate. Why come on here and slag someone who, at least tried, to make a difference. Your comment just demonstrates your desperate need to be noticed and also everything that is wrong with social media.

Instrumental in destroying the Grammer school system that offered so many kids from disadvantaged backgrounds a way out, imposing on them the soulless Comprehensive system. All whilst ensuring her own daughter managed to get a place in the kind of Grammer school she sort to deny to millions of others.

A great example of the worst kind of hypocritical Labour MP that makes them so so toxic to anybody from a working-class background with an IQ in double figures.

A repellent lady who was firmly part of the modern political class that has wrought such terrible damage on British society.

Agreed.

You are entitled to an opinion. She played a pivotal role in denying working-class kids one of the few genuinely proven routes to achieve academic success by her championing of the Comprehensive system whilst ensuring her own child was not impacted.

The very worst kind of political crime in my opinion. The kind of hypocrisy which deserves constant and never-ending vilification. She represented the most venal kind of politician who has wreaked havoc on traditional values. You want to understand why Labour got wiped out in 2019, then her actions are a bloody good place to see where the rot started.

I refuse to indulge in sickening virtue signalling just because she died. People need to be aware of the damage people like her caused and I refused to be cowed because of mass sentimentality. That somehow all the dead deserve respect is spurious nonsense.

unusually vitriolic for you matov.
I like your posts & agree with the majority.
I am from a time when I voted & trusted labour & now no longer can.

Her actions whilst in office still have massive negative repercussions even now. She destroyed the Grammer School system whilst still ensuring her own kid reaped the benefit.

In my mind the worst kind of politician and one that the Left specialise in. And why the Labour party are no friend of the working classes, seeking to keep as many of them poor and down-trodden by way of keeping their snouts firmly in the trough.

One of the primary reasons why I gravitated to the Right. I have no great love for many of the politicians currently masquerading as Conservative MP's but compared to Labour they are the pinnacles of principle.

This dreadful woman was amongst the worst of the worst. Using the lives and futures of working-class kids to experiment on for policies that she deliberately sort to protect her own child from.

But I will bow out of this one but urge everybody to actually investigate what people like this have done to the nation before just falling in like to repeat meaningless platitudes when they die.

Good news that you are bowing out! You write this stuff as if it is all factually correct - far from it in fact.

Anyway, it sounds like it might have caused you to reflect a bit on your earlier post with all it's vitriol.

Shirley Williams will always be highly regarded in my book for being brave enough to try to help form a party that could hold the middle ground. That it failed does not mean it wasn't needed then and is even more so today.

She gave up her political future in the attempt. Should she have succeeded we would all be much better off today as we would never have even considered Brexit. We would probably have become a country of continuous coalition and thus steered a steady, if unspectacular course. One of genuine progress for the many.

That the right so loath her puts her even higher in my opinion. If they dislike her so much she must have been doing something right.

Says 'the conservative'.

It' no surprise that you share her deluded socialist liberal attitudes.

Well, if that's the case, I expect you agree that Margaret Thatcher was doing something right. Especially as they were on opposing parties for their political careers. And you allegedely being of a Conservative background.

After all, many people (left and centre) threw parties for Maggie's passing.

But as for us all being better off if the SDP had succeeded, that's purely your opinion of what utopia might be. In my opinion, the middle ground might get voted in by the majority, but then, the majority get nothing in return as nothing can move forward. It's all appease, and be respectful, and apologise for the past, but don't improve your standing.

And get over Brexit. It happened. It was put to the country, regardless of what you or anyone else thinks of the legitamacy of it, and was voted for fairly.

Systematically dragged down by the lawmakers
