Nixon is a really strange one. He seems to respond to questions on footballing situations on Twitter in a very abstract way - not dissimilar to the pseudo-ITK types who are just regurgitating speculation. But at the same time, he did break our links to Nuno prior to anyone else and, going by his article on Favre, he quite emphatically asserts we are not going to be hiring Cooper, Ismaël or Lampard. Why would he just make that up unless he had some form of reliable link to the club?

Considering there has been next to no news on the manager front this week, I doubt it'd take many bets for his odds to shorten significantly. Having said that, I highly doubt there is smoke without fire when it comes to this one. It's not like a number of other candidates we've been linked to where people could quite easily put two and two together. I'd bet we are having a butch at him, at the very least. In that there are a finite number of Managers available and all the time the “music is playing” - so conversations ongoing with the “chairs” available they believe they have the “whip hand”..!! Moment “music stops” and one takes a chair creates a domino effect with the remaining players looking to “grab a chair”..!! Because at the end of the game they don’t/won’t want to be the one left with no chairs available waiting for the next game to start..!! Think we are into the last beats of the song..!! COYP

Looks like Benitez going to Everton…..maybe time to offer NES a offer, take it or leave it time…still prefer Favre tbh

It won’t take long to pick up a bad or troublesome reputation, especially if two teams have veered away from taking him on. Who knows, it’s all supposition.

I would be really surprised if Palace went back to Nuno. It sounded like there had been something of a breakdown in trust - hardly a good start to such a critical relationship.

If you go back about 50 pages I suggested exactly this situation. If Benitez goes to Everton then Santos could be back on the cards. he has said he wants to manage a Prem team sooner rather than later. After Everton there are not many other possibilities. It has also been notably quiet since the NES talks fell through. I don't think we will appoint before Everton as once thats done we are the next best within the bracket of status that we are at.
