No European team who would be interested in our out of contact players can offer any where near the current salaries, in addition neither would other prem teams.

Thankfully with COVID we hold the cards with the players we wish to extend .. IMO Tekkers, AT , NC and Roy will get new deals with the remaining leaving.

All easier said than done though.

i still like Ward. He could maybe be good for another 12 months.

regarding all the comments above, do you lot not know how ancient many of our players are ? Cahill is ready for the slippers, cocoa & dressing gown.

Keep Eze, Mitchell, Guaita, Tomkins, Schlupp, Benteke, Kelly, Kouyate and Riedewald, get rid of all the rest. I can dream can’t I?

Cahill is 35, Thiago Silva at Chelski, is 37. About to star in an FA Cup Final & a CL Final

While Dann was slow the other night I thought Ward did pretty well and managed to get in a couple of last ditch blocks to cover the fact our centre backs went AWOL. I’d keep him. I think Cahill is worth another year as a good pro to support kids

Parish is hoping that under Roy's wise guidance the kids stay up.

Roy isn’t going to be here, certainly not as the manager anyway.

Benteke has been going through the motions for 3 years now his contract is up he is getting a sweat on, earning 100k a week wasn't enough to motivate him think he is a disgrace

This may be the case but I'm not so sure it is. Benteke had injury issues during the previous two/three seasons and lost a lot of confidence, so even when he was fit he spent most of his time on the bench with the occasional cameo as a sub. He was pretty woeful most of the time he was on the pitch during that period.

However, When he got his chance again back in November when Hodgson had seen enough of Batshuayi and his offside issues (and I suspect a certain degree of laziness) Benteke had the good fortune to score a brace against Baggies and that seems to have helped him regain his confidence. He had a quiet spell in the first couple of months of this year but hasn't looked back since his last gasp winner against that South Coast team that likes to play Potterball.

I, for one, would not be unhappy if he gets a new contract (on reduced wages, of course), but much depends on who will be our manager next season.

With Benteke ( no idea how realistic it is to consider) but I would keep him on a lower basic wage with more emphasis (bonus payments) on goals scored & assists - a more productivity based agreement.

Agreed. If he score 20 PL goals I have no problem paying him £130,000 pw but this has to be incentive based.

I'd keep the following:

- Henderson as Keeper No.3
- Ward as back-up to Ferguson who hopefully will become more of a regular RB
- Cahill and Tomkins as experienced Centre Backs to guide 1-2 new young CB recruits
- Kouyate, Luka and possibly McArthur as experienced Defensive Midfielders to support/backup a new young DM recruit and offer an alternative to Reidewald
- Townsend as backup to a new young Right winger, with Rak Sakyi as an additional option here
- Benteke on a 1-year reduced wages contract, with Mateta and Ayew as additional options upfront, to play alongside Wilf, who I hope and believe will stay.

I'd also want to recruit an additional attacking midfielder to give us further options, rather than just relying on Eze.

So, I'd wish to see us get rid of these 9: Hennessey, Van Anholt, Clyne, Sakho, Dann, Kelly, McCarthy, Wickham and Batshuyai.

I also hope that we will see a new Manager (Frank, Eddie, or Sean) taking us forward, with the reported £50M to help fund the required signings.

I can but dream!!

But one thing is for sure, all should become clear in about two weeks time!! COYP

or not. Current contracts don't expire until 30 June. Knowing Palace, we could still be in the dark re manager and existing players this time next month! I hope that won't be the case but...
