I thought the original post was pretty good. I think if anyone or their family was subject to continuing anonymous online attacks they'd want the person to be found and punished.

Whilst the idea had merit. It's not something I'd agree with. Some social justice campaigners are asking for the right to be forgotten online and want peoples privacy protected. Other more extreme groups are asking to defund the police. Yet this method hands over even more information to the authorities and businesses. Looking back, there was not this kind of reaction when Ashley Young and Ashley Cole both took two terrible consecutive penalties against Italy in 2012. It's fair to say it was a lower profile game, but what's changed. The Social Media companies use algorithm to start controversial discussion. It keeps people coming back and keeps them arguing until the sides become more and more entrenched. The social media companies and celebrities then make loads of money form this service. Celebrities do grumble from time to time but they don't really want the system to change. Divicive behaviour drives people onto their platforms and gives celebrities a bigger audience which returns bigger sponsorship. If you went into a bar where people suffered the most horrific abuse, you wouldn't go again, you'd probably campaign to get it shut down. You'd boycott anyone advertising or profiting from that bar in any way. Yet twitter and others seem completely unaffected by cancel culture either though it is responsibility for all sorts of abuse and stoking a culture war. The real solution is to take your business elsewhere. But celebrities are making money from it, newspapers are getting stories, and people are addicted to it. Stop using twitter.

You mean east Africans against west Africans? What you are describing is worldwide. If Europeans were committing violence against minority groups then they wouldn't be risking their lives to get here.....and their descendants would be trying to go back to their ancestral homes.

No idea and personally, I think verbal abuse shouldn't be a crime or at best should be a grey area. Word's can hurt, sure but context is more important. I've been called a black c*** more times than I can remember, especially at football but most times I laugh it off. If someone called me a black c*** and gave me a shoeing, or I didn't get a job opportunity because of my skin colour and it was made clear that was the reason too, that would be important detail.

The defacing of Rashford's mural was not racist according to the Police: A lot of people were interviewed and some did say, fairly, it was a sad thing to do to someone who has tried to help people in the country during Covid. However quite a few brought up the race angle and weren't challenged by reporters. Does this really mean criticizing a person of colour has the aroma of racism?

When there are protected ethnicities/religions/skin colours/sexualities/genders that does become the case. On someone spray painting a cock and balls with a couple of drops coming out of the top into the vicinity of Rashford's face, it may be immature and be low end criminal damage or vandalism. But it isn't racist unless that was the actual intent. Probably some kids.
