I've been a tory voter since I was an 18yo in the late 70's when labour promised the earth and delivered the biggest shower of sh!te I've ever seen. But Truss has now taken that trophy by a long way. Cutting the basic rate of tax by 1p and scrapping the top rate, and then saying its fair to all, is an insult. That gives the average earner £2.40 per week and those in the 45p bracket 1000's. She and her side kick have delivered a Labour government for sure. Personally, I think its a deliberate ploy. Get as much wedge for the rich, and themselves as they can before the next election then all offski to somewhere else when labour get in! The finances are screwed before the next government takes over so what can they do? So the LBC show could well be correct in the views of tory voters.

I get the economic argument for what Truss and co are doing, however I'm not sure that they have the time to implement these ideas. If you're going for creating a business environment that competes with the EU then you're going to need the full four years that Thatcher had for the kind of changes to start to show....even in 83 the changes that Thatcher implemented on the economy were only starting to take affect after the initial economic shock.....In reality I think you need the stability of five years for the business confidence to really kick on. Is two years enough? I don't think so personally. However, can Labour realistically beat the Tories without Scotland? I doubt that as well regardless of what the opinion polls show....especially as Labour are incredibly woke. We will see I suppose....if we haven't been nuked that is.
