France are the best team in it this year. Don't know how Wales won it last year. Was a terrible six Nations last year. Hopefully some fairer referee decisions this year. I felt Wales were gifted it last year. It's a national catastrophe when Wales lose.
Ireland the quiet team going into it this season; if I were to bet, I'd bet on them. France's to lose really but they will probably give at least one poor performance, as is customary. I wouldn't think a Grand Slam this year as all teams, except Italy, are close in ability - although vastly contrasting styles.

Against Scotland.

Not sure what to make of England's selections against Scotland. Looks like a running side but surely some are not in their natural positions?
Scotland look settled and will be favourites. Hard to call really, as if England actually play well, they're obviously always a good side.

Ireland look like they will beat Wales. I would say that Wales are slightly affected by injuries. Will still be a tough match but I reckon Ireland will be up for this and get the win.

France will probably start slowly and make errors but Italy tend to lack fitness and not take their chances. France will score over 40 in the end, at least. Italy will probably score maybe 15, 20 at a push. Not sure what the spread is for betting but it will be a comfortable France win.
Frankly, wish Italy were better. Currently, I don't think they should be in it as they're just not good enough - consistently awful really.

I concur with that.

My mate, donkeys' years ago, played a lot of rugby and quietly conceded that he had no idea what the rules were. When the whistle went and he was somehow infringing, he heard blah blah blah said yes sir to the ref and the game went on with the other side getting a pen and him none the wiser as to why.

Only a few days ago I read - can't remember where or who wrote it:

"Footballers spend 90 minutes pretending that they are injured. Rugby players spend 80 minutes pretending that they aren't."

The version I'm familiar with is:

"Rugby is a rough game played by gentlemen whereas football is a gentle game played by ruffians."

Well, my wife was close to tears yesterday. Her team, Wales, were dire. OK they were missing 8 of their top players, but even so.

Son-in-Law tried not to look smug, but couldn’t disguise the pleasure he felt with Scotland's win over England. Eddie Jones grumbled. Bloody poor loser.

Meanwhile I was in another room with my tablet, managing to pick up a stream of our game with Hartlepool. I felt like the only one who had a good day. Now on to Stoke.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

France will beat Ireland, likely close. Scotland should beat Wales, if both sides play how they did, will be close. England will pull away from Italy in the last 20mins and turn a respectable score a bit silly.
