Just announced Premier League have awarded him Goal of the Month
for his one at Norwich.

Utterly indispensable for us, always has been and will be so until he leaves or retires. Worth his salary.

Man and boy Palace since my first game in 1948 sitting on my dad's shoulders

You're under complicating it.

Firstly you've ignore the last part of my comment.

Secondly, Wilf is clearly in a slow decline. A 32 year old Wilf will clearly not be as good as the current 29 year old, just as he isn't quite as good as the 26 year old Wilf.

All players decline at different levels depending on age, their body, injury record etc. Look at Willian at Arse last year compared to Chelsea the year before. A ghost of his former self. Rooney was shot at about 28. However, others can play into the mid 30s without any adverse effects.

Wilf's decline has clearly already started

I ignored that part because a complete guess - we've signed players on hugely competitive salaries in the last few years, despite Wilf being our highest earner on £120k or whatever it is.

You seem determined to prove some sort of meta-understanding of how it works when it doesn't exist - just really simplify it; that £5m we save from letting him go, what do you do with it to replace Wilf's contribution on the pitch?

He's on course for his best ever goal-scoring season in the Prem, having beaten his personal best last season, but he's on a 'slow-decline'...

The only wingers to outscore Wilf over the last 2 seasons are Salah, Son, Sterling and Mane - Mahrez comes in just behind... for £5m we might be able to pay one of their salaries for a month!

Regardless of what he is, was or will be, he is one of the first on the teamsheet and is still one of our most important players.

Parish will offer him a new deal (he'd be mad not to) - then ultimately it will be down to Wilf. Nice 3/4 years at a club that love you and are on the up, or enter the open market and try, like Andros, to get picked up by a better club.

100%. The difference between where we are now and league one.

Wilf still has an important part to play on this team, imho. He's just not the whole offense now. Still, unlikely anyone would buy him off us so it's good he's still relevant. Not the dominant player he was, but still good value. Keep him.

No stupid idea. Just because we are no longer a one trick pony where he has to do everything, beat 6 players , win penalties etc. He is an outstanding player and is now flourishing because he has other good players around him.

I hope Wilf signs a new deal and finishes he's career with us.

I think we need to keep Wilf, even if it is only for another year whilst we prepare someone for the role. If we keep hold of Eze, I think he's better in the middle so I wouldn't consider him a replacement. Rak-Sakyi looks promising but it's a lot of pressure to ask him to and expect him to step into Wilf's shoes so quickly. This would mean signing someone, as if we don't, we become lop sided on the wing again and that's if we manage to keep hold of Olise

In the Man. City game it was refreshing to see Wilf's reaction when the ref. awarded Palace a free-kick for a fouls committed against him. Instead of going into his usual routine of gesticulating and mouthing off to the ref. (even when awarded a free kick) he just got up and got on with it. A new Wilf?? Can this last??
