I took up smoking and then gave it up.

Also keep comparing prices. For example is meat cheaper at the butcher or the pet shop.

Although your post was tongue in cheek (I hope) giving up smoking can be a huge cost saving.

I used to be a heavy smoker getting through two packs of Hamlet cigars a day. They currently cost £7 per pack which means over £5,000 per year out of taxed income.

I packed up about 20 years ago and at the end of my first year of non smoking I had money in the bank for the first time since I started work and that has continued ever since

We are pretty frugal in our household already so I don't see much scope for further cutbacks, unless we take the two cats and two dogs on a long journey and accidentally forget to bring them back.

Cats would be sleeping in your bed by the time you got home and Dogs most likely have found new friends!

Just my experience of both

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Of course - 4 acres of lawn doesn't mow itself.

Thumbs up. Some cheapo own brand options are definitely as good as the heavily advertised options. Others not so much, but a bit of trial and error is all it takes!

Aldi soup is good along with their coralle range of beans and ravioli. The fresh meats and sandwich fillers have excellent dates as well. Far longer than the big four.

Maybe after all these years my dear wife and I should have a hot bath together.
