Exactly how many of these people are fixating on their gender to compensate for their unhappiness we don't know as when people have tried to do studies into what happened to Trans people post transition the Trans lobby shut them down.

I believe the percentage of suicides is far higher in people who have fully transitioned than the rest of the population but there is very little detail about why this should be because the medical research community has caved to pressure and so doesn't look.

It's very sad that someone takes their life and even sadder when there seems to be a pattern that is being ignored.

Sigh! I remember the good old days when Romania was called Rumania.

I'd wager it's higher in those who want to go through with it (as in say for a decade rather than some 'overnight' thing) but who don't due to it how they feel they will be ostracised and treated as less than. Who knows though.

I think that's one of the pertinant apsects here, that things like 'trans in female sports' (which i disagree with) or 'trans in bathrooms!' (which is largely used to scare people) distract somewhat from that fact that trans people in some number do exist (as in people who feel that they are in the wrong body and absolutely do not talk themselves into that and essentially will 'never' be able to think themselves out of it)..

So regardless of these people being used by both sides as a political wedge issue by both sides, really most people in any group largely want to keep their head down and just live a life and aren't activists or any of that nonsense. I'll be honest it's not a subject I can fully get my head around, but there was a trans women at our local boozer years back who would just sit there at 'quiet times' to avoid trouble and would still inevitably get viewed as a zoo animal or freak show by some for his/her appearance. While reactions are normal it occured to me that this person displayed more dignity that entire time than than those doing the demeaning. It's a difficult balance, but unless someone wishes you harm, it's just the decent thing to leave them be.

I don't think the outrage driven media, nor on the other side of incensed twitter activist types help any of this. They either make these people the belle of the ball or some kind of dangerous creature lurching around, rather than a person who has different challenegs in life but likely similar ultimate aspirations as most.

It's not Trans people I have an issue with. Its perverts and idiots gaming the system and the Trans spokespeople who don't have the commonsense to distance themselves from that nonsense.

We have a Trans person in our pub as well I can't say that I know them largely because they and their boyfriend have a personal hygiene problem, you can smell them before you see them. That said they aren't any trouble and are left in peace by the punters.

Of yes, definitely I'm with you on that. I often think that these advocate groups and the like do much more harm than good. Inevitable I suppose regardless of the group doing it because they just can't look beyond an extreme point of their own interests. I just think it's all a shame for people keeping their heads down and living a quiet life as they too get dragged into this and really due to the volume of debate don't even really fit into the conversation at any point, as their a person rather than a political push.. Sorry to hear that there's a stinker in your boozer . We should all just advocate for personal hygiene! I had assumed that battle had been won Ha.

Because they suddenly find, post surgery, that it was not the ultimate solution to all their problems that they expected it to be.

Shock horror as the BBC has posted on the subject of Trans-women in sport which actually highlights the problem.

I'm not completely anti-BBC to the extent some are, however you can't help but feel they do bend to the left's demands more often than not.

There's a line in there essentially saying "It should be proved there's no advantage to Trans athletes in female sport before they compete, not vice-versa" - not a verbatim quote.

It is quite incredible that such dogmatic allegiance to left wing nutcasery has now meant it supposedly takes months if not years before someone actually challenges or indeed looks at the logic behind these nonsensical proposals.

That said, I am considering reprising my objectively unsuccessful boxing career identifying as a fly-weight women given fat-shaming or transphobia can be instantly called upon in any circumstance. My chances of success, whilst definitely higher than before, I strongly suspect are still very slim sadly

It's a shame that it's become 'THE' issue, because clearly like anyone else 99.9999% of trans people aren't rushing to get into the olympics, so this being the issue that is front and centre is unfortunate. Even the likes of Republican former olympic gold medalist Caitlyn Jenner (Bruce Jenner) oppose trans women in womens sport. Honestly I think these things are elevated partly by a rabid activist fringe never happy with anything other than people recognising 12 billion pronouns, and also by the same media that seeks to create endless stories by knocking these groups down "they're doing this now!" etc .. it's easy headlines. I would say that most rational people from any demographic going don't think that say trans woman knocking seven bells out of a biological woman in a boxing ring is something that should happen.

Where there are so few voices from certain communities that are listened to or appreciated, people either tend to advocate on their behalf in areas that the majority don't give a fig about anyway (as in I'd think most trans people are far more concerned with getting by in day to day life than taking up pro sport), or find ways to demonise them in ways that are equally detached from said day to day life (Oh no there's one in the bathroom.... and the egg and spoon race!!) . I get concerned about how easy is it for people to be sweepingly dehumanised in our society. I'd fully approve of a blanket ban on trans women in womens sports in part because it's clearly ludicrous and unjust to upend decades of hard work and records achieved from biological women in sport, and as a secondary factor just to blot it out as a news site and tv attack angle on a marginalised group..

The reason we’ve got in this mess is by ignoring this inevitable end point. Validating the wishes of people with gender dysphoria seems polite and harmless but the result is mixed sex sports, toilets, prisons, rape centres/refuges and everything else you can think of.

Honesty and clear language is needed. Hopefully, eventually there will be a re-set and it will be all be able to say an adult human male is a man, and an adult human female is a woman.
