This is just one of many sites giving roughly the same figures. I just googled trans suicide rates. If the families of people wanting this procedure haven’t done their due diligence and tried to dissuade the individual in any capacity then get a mirror !!!

It's you who needs to do the due diligence! The article you referenced yourself would be a good starting point. It contains this:-

"Gender-based victimization, discrimination, bullying, violence, being rejected by the family, friends, and community; harassment by intimate partner, family members, police and public; discrimination and ill treatment at health-care system are the major risk factors that influence the suicidal behavior among transgender persons."

So reducing the suicide rate doesn't depend on "dissuading" the individual. It depends on getting others to stop the victimisation, bullying, violence and rejection.

In other words, getting others to understand and show compassion, rather than blame people for who they are.

Of course, which is why I don't get involved. Anything I say is about issues which could apply anywhere.

If someone wants to criticise the Mayor's response to knife crime, for instance, then I don't comment. If they criticise him because of his faith, I might.

Didn't hold you back with Trump.

These suicides actually happen a lot farther down the line. Trans people have the option to move away and start again. Where as you say no one would know the difference. The suicide rate isn’t instant because they were mocked. You wissie have cherry picked what might fit in with where you may have failed. I said there are many sites. Keep reading is how you get the real facts.

I have. Everything there supports what I picked out in my previous post. That there are higher suicide, and self harm rates is entirely due to the way the rest of us treat them, and not to anything specific to them as people.

If we can bring ourselves to accept and understand and then show compassion, these issues will evaporate.

It's up to us. I am doing my best. Will you?

Except you live even further away from America than you do from London but can opine on one but not the other.
You had the opportunity to find out a little of the reality of Khan's London but chose not to take it.

Ever since the left were allowed to win the culture you read all this lunacy all the time....up is down, right is left.....leftists are one nation conservatives....social liberals claiming conservatism....when in truth the only thing conservative about them is how they treat their bank account.

Coming up with nonsense to explain statistics which are worse than before and finding ways to blame anything other than the changes they wanted.

I've long since realised that exposing the left's double standards and hypocrisies gets us nowhere. They don't care....it's about winning and that's all power cares about....they will use language to justify just about anything.....just like they put 'phobe' on the ends of words to create their idea of a 'bad think' person.

There has never been a point debating with liars and lunatics. We can only wait until such a time as when the culture puts these fruitcakes back into their box.

You should not even consider having to try tbh. Me, yes I don’t actually think it’s normal but wouldn’t stoop to insults; if me not believing it’s normal contributes then I can only accept I may be wrong in certain eyes but that’s the beauty of opinions.

Agree with theme of this.

I’ve been using the word ‘failures’ to describe the current extreme of the left and those comprising it and I think it’s valid… of most political extremism really. Anyone taking a close look at say Hitler’s life will see what a failure he was, beyond public speaking, and understand where such extreme thought comes from.

The so called liberal left operate under a ridiculous guise of altruism: that they are championing such things as equality whereas in reality, it is the cultivation of a victim mentality to justify extreme changes to the world in which they are failing. A mindset that needs to point its finger at an oppressor of course and turn attention away from the failure.

The transgender movement fits perfectly into this mould. It doesn’t matter if it goes against science, so long as you can claim it to paint yourself as some sort of victim so as to persecute, vilify and attack all those who reject you, and more importantly point the finger anywhere else but at yourself, your stance is worthy of all the endorsement, promotion and protection in the world.

And if anyone dare to suggest perhaps your problems are not being born into the wrong body, feels laughably insane just typing it, but that you are a failure, have mental health problems etc and are just looking for something to hang a victim hat on to justify your pain and this is why you’re imagined kin are topping themselves at ludicrous rates, you can just cry victim once more.

What angers me is this type of ‘movement’ actually draws attention away from very genuine causes, is of course utilised by some for financial gain and will always pave the way for an equal and opposite reactions in society, culture and politics (‘far right extremism on rise’ headlines). Anybody involved in promulgating this nonsense should be locked up, ridiculed and exemplified as to how not live your life.

I agree there are genuine cases that deserve sympathy.... perhaps sympathy is the wrong word as it's condescending....maybe understanding is a better word....but that isn't the same thing as positive promotion of a damaging lifestyle.

The vast majority of girls and boys both identify with and need positive male and female role models. These should be positive versions of masculinity and femininity, with the understanding that everyone has versions of it and rarely perfectly matches any model. But the idea that no models or framework should exist just throws the younger generations to the wolves in my opinion....those without good parents can be lost and often are...especially today, a huge amount of damage is out there.

The idea that all lifestyles are equal in worth is a lie, both statistically and practically.....We should be trying to help younger generations, not confuse them and make them willing prey both to degenerates and the mentally ill.....When I went to school, teachers would warn us to stay away from the kind of people that society today paints as positive.

I'm essentially against transgenderism as something that society should be promoting at all. However, I pretty much agree with all your commentary on it where you raised an excellent real life example.

I remember Quentin Crisp from my younger days and he always struck me as someone with this mental condition who was actually very noble and in many ways wise....he certainly wasn't the snowflake nor politically correct creature that the alphabet community like to promote today.

This Transgender stuff is evil. In the classical sense of the world. Anti-Life. Rendering both males and females sterile. That is the entire point of it.

Reproductive organs removed and then we are compelled, by law, to actually believe that this is to be celebrated.

I refuse to take part in any kind of 'rational' debate around this issue anymore because to do so gives it a credibility it does not deserve. We live in a West that seems hell-bent on promoting rendering children infertile as some kind of positive. That is evil. Nothing more, nothing less.

Agree again Stirling but in bold: I wasn't specifically referring to the nonsense being discussed in this thread but more so the wider application of the left's victim mindset as I see it. My most personally hated one is the 'racism' hijacking, where IMHO a very genuine and of course logical cause, such as the likes of not attacking, hindering or persecuting people on the basis of race alone, is broadened or misapplied for the benefit of halfwits - usually being those who seek to financially benefit from it, those who are unable to get attention and meaning elsewhere in their lives or those who's intentions are most sinister or motives disturbed.

In this instance, there may well be people who need help or perhaps are having other issues worsened as their minds are turned to something other than that which needs addressing. Dare I say that many who take their own lives may do so as a 'transition' does not suddenly magically cure them and the basket carrying all those eggs collapses. Also, in terms of worthy causes, of course I'm no expert, no experience, no real insight beyond my own very limited life experience and interactions or exposure to such people, but the 'LGB' supposedly wanting to drop the 'T' may be a prime example of a worthy cause being hindered or hijacked by ideologues and those operating in a clandestine manner.
