I think that unlikely. The club haven't made him Assistant Manager to demote him when the Prodigal returns. If Derry has a role with the first team squad it may be as one of the assistant coaches or, of course, it could be him who is asked to look after the U21s.

Derry has already shown during his time in the lower leagues that he doesn't have much to offer in the 1st team management stakes. Paddy's star is still on the rise and we simply don't know if he will make the grade but spending a year at Hodgson's side will do him no harm, whereas a move back down to the U21s will be demotivating. After all, what has he done wrong to cede the role to Derry?

It hasnt been reported by Dazza, so its not likely to happen.

If rumours of our limited budget are true perhaps Derry is being brought back as a player rather than a coach.
