One more point

I can't get my head around why Muslims vote Labour. Most are socially conservative (small c) so why vote for a party that promotes genders and sexuality over the family unit.

Many of these folk are small businessmen so logic should say that they should be natural allies of the Tories, however the Conservatives no longer socially conservative.

At some point you do wonder if there will be a realignment with the left wing of the Tories moving towards Labour or Lib Dem and a Tory right wing rump promoting values that many including Muslims would agree with.

Anyway for now they will get hammered at the next GE as the electorate will vote in haste and then repent at leisure.

Recent events should give a clue ,the right in this country are generally pro Israel ,the left pro Palestine .. So they lean left ,policy comes a very poor second to religion in the Muslim world

Its not really helpful to talk about the 'Muslim' vote per se because it covers to wider a banf of people.

What is more relevant is the pakistani origin vote. That is where the issue is and where it is most felt, at a local level. It tends to be centred in traditional Labour areas anyway (such as Bradford and so on) and by way of things such as postal votes, has allowed the Mosques to effectively take control, or at least sway, political influence.

If you really dig into things such as the grooming scandals then the real political story, outside of the horror of what happened to those girls, is the involvement of local politicians and their links to the gangs. One of the reports states about all kinds of related documents going missing from secure Council safes and so on. It is this corruption, which also touches on crimes such as drugs and frauds, which is the real concern.

In terms of these by-elections then the Tories lost because they cannot get their voters out. People are just sick to death of them.

And also note. No talk, yet, around Sunak resigning. Literally not even being mentioned.

The man is a placeholder. As simple as that. There to lose and to lose big. And doing a sterling job of it so far.
