May be being thick but when was the first one he missed like that? Only other pen I can think of that he missed was blasted over the bar?

Fair enough blasted over the bar that time but the main thing seems to be small run up, concentrates so hard on looking at the left and then blindly hits it to the right. Because he's no looking it down the right to 'fool' the goalkeeper, he has no direction or control of pace. So one goes over and one rolls slowly into the keepers arm. Ironically if he'd of hit both to the left hand side where he was looking he'd have definitely scored. Just a case of a player being too clever for his own good. Ronaldo, aka one of the best 2 players in the world does his staggered run-up and it doesn't allow him the same control of power either and he misses some vital ones. I think a manager just has to get a hold of these players and say if you thump it as hard as you can one way or the other it's probably going in, if the goalkeeper makes a great save then don't worry about it. Don't give them an opportunity to make you look a t*** though!

Give Benteke a break will yah? He made a decision, hoping Gomez's homework would have made him think he was shooting left for a change. Yes, I concede I'd prefer a hard shot in the corner, but Benteke's been delivering too often to slag him off so early. Give our man a break!

Frustrating as it is, I still rate Benteke highly. For a big fella he's technically very good and will continue to score goals this season. Bizarrely, despite being worth 27m he has quite a fragile ego and responds to positivity from supporters opposed to negativity. With Benteke we are a better side than without him.
