If Jamie had all the answers then perhaps he'd be God and I'd convert to Jamieism. Still, interesting debate this even if I do proclaim not to care either way.

Answers aren't the important bit, the questions are.

In which case its probably better that there is no creator who laid down the great stone slab that provides... given how human and ant interactions tend to work out.

There's also the multi-cultural problems between red and black ants to consider.

Well the red ants have been saying some bloke build the paving slab. The black ones have a fanciful story about it being a concrete manifestation of the souls of millions of ants that died in the "Great Kettle Incident".

There is no problem until one discovers the nest of the other. As far as I know, no ant authority makes red and black live together.

The ant comparison would work better if we imagined what an ant understood of the universe. His observation would come only slightly lower on the scale than ours.

I was just trying to come up with a more ludicrous concern than whether there's a God or not. Turns out I was defeated by that challenge.

When you get past 50, concerns is all you got.

Pretty obvious we are here because of lucky coincidences of chemistry/reactions so I worship the Bunsen Burner - praise be - and look forward to when I die and receive my 72 unused wire guazes in Paradise.

I think that as an analogy sums up the great human experiment.

Also, if there is a god, why not Insects and Beetles. There make up something like 90% of the species on the planet. There were only a few human species, of which only one remains in existence - and they're a species that tetters on the brink of their own destruction by any number of means.

To me, it sounds like this god bloke is like that friend who claims to know all about 'the horses' but backs more losers than the person selecting their bets based on the funniest name.

At least seven subspecies of human, only the latest survive, meanwhile bugs and buzzing things have been around pretty much since life slopped out of the ocean with an accidental current and strange new lung cell.

Yeah but not about God. It'll be erections and bowel movements before I get on to deities.

I expect there is a red ant who bangs on about worker-ants of the garden unite, all you have to lose are your drones.
