You do realise that Tata Steel is an Indian company, don’t you?

You also clearly don’t understand the nuances of this merger. Why don’t you read up on it?

Yes I do.

4,000 redundancies at Port Talbot, none in the Netherlands or Germany.

I am sorry but your protestation’s do not make sense. If this was what you said it was, it would be massive news,

You can drive a bus through that amendment ‘...in the spirit of the Good Friday Agreement’. That is as ambiguous a phrase as is possible.

You are thinking what you want to happen and we are leaving the CU and SM. Deal with it.

We'll see. Explain how customs in Ireland will work given this amendment.

This doesn't have to be taken seriously because this situation won't happen. The reality is aviation is a huge money spinner for all nations. The UK has the fifth/sixth highest GDP in the world.

It's disingenuous for anyone to make the suggestion that the business class are going to isolate the UK on aviation.

Rules will adjust.

You still need some sort of deal though. The "rules" aren't a sentient being that will make their own adjustments. They need to be negotiated and agreed upon and formalised. This takes time and effort and some level of competence. All of which we're lacking ever more of by the day.

How has our lives, let alone those we've spawned, improved while being in the EU?
All i see is public/private debt at record levels, the middle classes being shafted and dismal prospects for our young (along with many other countries).

Is this progress?

In your book the EU is to blame for this and not we ourselves? Leaving the EU is some panacea that will solve all our problems I suppose.

Where did you find info on these job losses? My understanding is they have guaranteed jobs in UK? Only read the one article on it mind.

That is what will be discussed at the EU summit. We’ll see then.

I said go and read about it. You obviously didn’t, or, would you like me to explain the difference between the meanings of ‘jobs saved’ and ‘redundancies’?

For what it is worth the FT gives details of the 4,000 jobs to go.

For me, newspaper links, this is the post truth era.

You clearly haven’t read or understood anything about this merger and have decided to make your own mind up, based on some Remainer circle jerk that this is the fault of Brexit.

Read the FT article. There are three key points for you to understand:

A. 2,000 jobs going from the group as an entity is sold;
B. The split of the 2,000 other redundancies is not certain;
C. There will be no compulsory redundancies;

The unions are happy with the deal.

Finally, you need to read about steel making and understand the reasons of why British steel manufacturing is uncompetitive. This is largely down to Tony Benn and nationalisation.

Well if its uncompetitive, and with a trade war brewing I wonder why they want to be here at all.

Originally they wanted to flog the lot and depart, so anything the unions can get will be welcome.

Just over the water will be a hassle and cost free single market of 500 million people, why have the UK and its endless costs and difficulties when it is unnecessary.

What the CEO of Tata says:

And then there's Brexit.

When asked what impact that could have on the new Anglo-German firm, Tata Steel UK chief executive Bimlendra Jha said he needed to be able to easily move his products and people across borders.

When asked what it would mean if the UK could not secure that outcome, he said that would be "a sorry state of affairs".

Ta-ta and plenty of others in the same position.

Well researched post with actual quotes. You know this will just fall on deaf ears.

So you’ve changed your approach when questioned and provided a quote from the media, even in these days of ‘fake news’?
