Aka the least funniest bloke on the planet.

I'd wager that a progressive is no judge of comedy.....but instead a person whose ideology restricts it.

I'm old enough to remember society having to fight off the self righteous religious right on comedy......only to find that we have laden ourselves with the self righteous sanctimonious far left.

What a ridiculously contradictory point of view. No one living in a free society would choose to wear something you'd like people not to be free to choose to wear?

Authoritarianism clouding your "free speech, free country" nationalistic view there, as so often it does among right wingers. Claiming freedom of speech and expression is important so long as it conforms to a narrow set of standard set by white heterosexual gammons.

People should be allowed to wear what the want end of and no one, especially an MP in a national newspaper should denigrate people for their clothing and especially not where the primary purpose is to rouse fervour among right wing anti-muslim thugs.

Ridiculous. Most comedians and artists are left wing and it is the left wing more often than not standing up for the right to make jokes about anything. The key is recognising when something ceases to be a joke and in fact is nothing more than racism or other forms of discrimination masquerading as comedy.

Yep, that really is Boris Johnson's base!

If that WAS the case, he would have called for a ban on the burqa but in the last few days he has said he doesn't want a ban.

So you're allowed to make fun of "white heterosexuals" by calling them "gammons" yet Boris can't make fun out of the burqa? What a ridiculously contradictory point of view.

It is entirely the left wing who criticise the right for making jokes about anything.

It is only a minority on the left...and definitely not the far left who defend offensive jokes.

The far left are a disgrace over this issue as they are a disgrace about most of their politics.

More Cake-ism from Boris. Saying one thing to appeal to Tory liberals and another to appeal to the far right 'kippers.

How incredibly cringe-worthy.

The people who are getting het up by criticism of BoJo and claiming to stand up for "free speech" yet get similarly het up by people wearing anything they like and saying it shouldn't be allowed here warrant being referred to as a gammon. I wasn't referring white heterosexuals as gammons to be clear, just a subset of white heterosexuals who meet the above (and below) criteria.

In recent months, the word “gammon” has become a shorthand for middle-aged, right-leaning white men who won’t stop railing against a system they feel is working against them, even though they are ultimately among its greatest beneficiaries.

Muslim women who wear whatever they like don't warrant being called letter boxes or bank robbers.

It's a shame that all the right wingers on here are capable of is taking issue with the word gammon rather than engaging in the "meat" of the issue.
