The flaw in that argument is it's not the EU stitching us up, it's us stitching ourselves up. We voted for this !

Badger, this is brexit !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't have a problem with a free trade area. Its the rest of the stuff I would prefer to do without.

Farage claimed last night that a condition of the implementation deal and he claimed the final deal after that was that the EU courts would have a say in state aid.

How true that is I don't know but if it is no wonder Corbyn is against it as state aid is a big plank in his plans for a future Labour government.

I suspect you have a rosey view of the ability of bureaucrats to sort things out and get them right in a short time scale

Where there is a major change there is risk. You can't mitigate the risk if you work within an inflexible system.

It is guaranteed that this won't work well for a long time to come (if it does indeed happen)

Of course it's a requirement - in order to carry on trading with the EU - that State aid to industry is not out of line with the trading partners.

It is one of the most central planks of the EU that its members have a level playing field (where feasible).

The big fear from the EU is that we don't play fairly and as a result create damaging unfair competition.

It's how economics works, kill the competition until you can gain a monopoly, then milk the situation.

Cross subsidisation in any situation is automatically unfair.

Really? That is interesting

Which non EU countries are you thinking of? Genuinely I would like to know if you are speaking from a position of authority

I remember needing a local sponsor for many in which I have worked, which was a nightmare

We aren't talking tourism here, but proper work. Tried getting a Green Card in the US? Or perhaps an H1B? Good luck with the quota. Even the 'simple' L1 is a right pain.

I have posted previously about trying to get EU visas for mental health nurses, which proved nigh on impossible. I have also tried to get visas for people to work in Luxembourg recently. Non-EU people really struggle, it's very slow and very uncertain.

All this 'think positive' nonsense is getting in the way of a proper analysis of how this is really going to play out.

I wish there could now be a second referendum along the lines Greening proposed.

Brexit no deal
Brexit May deal
No Brexit

You vote a 1st & 2nd choice

The third-place vote is eliminated, and the second votes from that are added to the other two. So, approximately, for example:

No deal 35%
May deal 30%
no Brexit 35%

But those who voted May have a 70/30 split for a no deal in the 2nd vote...no deal wins.

The reality is that parliament doesn't, in its collective form, want to own this. All you hear in PMQs is MPs aping whatever they think might win them the greatest popularity in their constituency. They're not really questions that are being asked, just grand standing.

If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities.

I successfully applied for Visas for my staff one to work in Switzerland and lots to come from India to work in the UK. It's a paper filling exercise but there was nothing unreasonable in fact the intention of both was the same. Why is this person required to work in Switzerland or UK instead of a local person. If you can answer that question you will be successful.

My parents applied and got approval to migrate to the USA (they never did as Mum died). My brother who lived in the USA was their sponsor. Again lots of paperwork but the intention was to ensure that my parents would not be a burden to the US taxpayer.

My mate married a Cuban woman in Havana he is complaining that the wedding is not recognised in the UK. It can but he can't be bothered with the paperwork, he would rather complain. He doesn't get that in the past women were trafficked into the UK as "brides". I have no problem with the government making sure that his marriage is genuine. I have doubts myself.

Good point. Globalisation is already here, is highly unlikely to be stopped, and therefore is an inevitability. Also, the financial and the social are intrinsically linked. Saying that economic negatives will simply result in positives elsewhere seems to be a complete nonsense.

Also, I've got a spare ten minutes and need to flex my cod philosophy, so here's a side note to the more prolific leave posters on here.

If you're already retired, part-time or living in the powerhouses of rural England in a desperate attempt to escape the foreigns and snuggle yourselves into the warmth of Olde England. Just remember that you're dying embers that have been kicked away from the roaring fire, attempting to cling on to something, anything, before you die out with little more than a few thousand words of dross and negativity on a forum to show for it.

I do find it commendable that you're still so passionate despite the fact your message has no significant audience. It only exists as some form of personal justification railing against the reality of your rapidly diminishing existence. You're on the fringes for a reason. You're no longer, or have never been in positions of influence, value or social necessity for a reason. You had your chance.

Simply whiling away the hours plummeting into your own freshly dug rabbit holes. Not doing anything of value can get a little boring. But you take solace in the fact that you can sit back in your armchairs and watch it all unfold, spewing out your bitterness trying to hold on to some form of relevance for your lives before you fade out into nothingness, leaving people that actually have a stake in the game to live to deal with the true effects of this mess. Let's hope the long term is positive, because the short to medium term is going to be a s***show that we're going to have to deal with.

If you really had something of value left to do or were passionate about your point of view you wouldn't be on this forum 24/7.

Well, that's set you up to take the "Most Insultingly Condescending Poster of the Year" Award.

An Izzard sketch about flags? How is that a response to anything.

Who gives a feck what Eddie Izzard thinks or doesn't think? He's a well known left winger. How is that going to resonate with me?

You might as well have posted a video of your third cousin.

Blimey, I didn't know there was one. Probably the most fiercely fought of all HOL awards

Am I too late to register my interest? I am sure I can knock something suitable up if I try really hard, having learned from a variety of experts.

He's got a point though.

If the referendum was re-run it would probably swing to remain just purely from leave voters who have since died and those now of voting age who couldn't vote at the time.

For such a huge decision which will affect the next good half a century, going with a vote which was won largely due to the older demographics is f*cking stupid.
