Not just West Indians - very popular meat of choice for African and Middle Easterners too

Just remind yourself of EU Bureaucracy when you're filling out your form

It'll all be online. You think the airlines are going to collect the 7 Euros per person on the plane?

And we didn't vote for this as it's only just been announced today, i.e. in the future. And it's exactly what you've described it as, more needless EU bureaucracy for 60 odd other countries too.

We can make ours EU exclusive if we choose too, and annual rather than 3 yearly. What with freedom to set our own rules and all that.

Optimistic as ever

I'm a lefty.

Still to this day, not a single "moderate" lefty can explain precisely what is left wing about undermining other countries work forces, undercutting our own & exploiting immigrants. It's literally a complete contradiction of socialism.

I've seen the argument that this is down to politicians and not immigrants. But I think this is precisely the point. Criticising Freedom of Movement is not the same as bashing foreign people.

The problem is, as with many mechanisms of the EU, far too often things such as Freedom of Movement are used as a platform for politicians to hide behind. When, for example a lefty questions why (supposedly) left-wing PM's aren't strengthening unions, workers rights & cutting down on these sorts of practices, they can just say "well FoM, init?".

This is the proof that Brexit shouldn't ever be made out to be a left vs right issue. The honourable case for Brexit has always been self-determination and accountability.

I voted to remain, but not a single remainer has ever dealt with this sufficiently.

Well, according to my butcher (this is in Somerset where sheep farming is massive and he buys direct from the farmer) they don't just take the parts that Brits find unappetising. Because we produce the finest lamb in the EU, and because many of the EU countries are more selective in their purchase of meat (butchers rather than supermarket cheap stuff), farmers are able to command around 100+ Euros per whole carcass - much better pricing than the UK will pay. Without the EU market, they should easily be able to outsell New Zealand imports (the currently cheaper option for the UK).

The tragedy is that, in major cities there are so few decent butchers left to sell this lamb - I know when I left Sydenham 10 years ago, my nearest non-halal butchers were in Thornton Heath or West Wickham(and the Thornton Heath one has now gone I believe).

Or maybe they could transfer all those green fields to goat farming instead......

I remember the Thornton Heath one if it used to do goat shoulder, might have been West Croydon edge - very nice cut anyway.

Hartwells - by the station. Robert Hartwell was a lovely old school butcher, and he did a mean rump steak!

If you ever visited Graz in October you would be forgiven for thinking that 100% of Austrian market gardening is devoted to the production of pumpkins. It's impossible to eat in a cafe or restaurant without being offered pumpkins at every opportunity. Pumpkin soup with pumpkin seed bread followed by some kind of meat with parsley potatoes (also ubiquitous) and pumpkin mash or pumpkin slices with pumpkin sauce followed by pumpkin ice-cream, pumpkin tart or Pumpkin Surprise.

If you were a vegetarian and didn't like pumpkins you'd be goosed. Your only other option would be cheese which of course comes with pumpkin bread, pumpkin crackers and some sort of pumpkin jam stuff like chutney.

Fish does not even exist.

I voted to remain because the practical solution for making leaving happen was bollocks. Same for leaving the Union. Bollocks. Numbers didn't add up, assumptions everywhere, ignore the facts or make up your own, and appeal to people's emotions. Just s***e. Simple really.
