Why? Because it's true.

No it isn't! It's a lie. A commonly believed lie but still a lie.

UK democracy lies solely in Parliament and is exercised via us voting in representatives.

Whatever MPs said before, during or after either the referendum, a manifesto or upon election can always be overturned by changing circumstances and second thoughts. That is the way our democracy works and should the MPs fail to act upon their consciences and try to give us what they believe we need and instead give us what we want, or what they promised in the past, then that would be anti-democratic.

What a lot of self-serving nonsense.

We all know that you would not be saying this if you had won. Then it all be about the will of the people.

You are fooling no one.

And you have nothing to say regarding the utter tripe that you've responded to.

'Gammon' is all encompassing bud, even for 'Mini-O'Briens'.

I think you summarise it better

An 'appalling statement'? It's from the census, like I stated. Different types of Asian are accounted for.

It's appalling wherever it comes from. That kind of terminology, especially when used by official sources, is one of the biggest reasons we have such problems.

By calling it a Mosque you were happy to give that impression when I had to research it to once again confirm that the truth isn't something you're that concerned with.....Just like you were happy for the authorities to cover up the Islamic rape gangs.

I used the term used locally, both by non Muslims and the Muslims who use it. As the authorities did not "cover up" any "Islamic rape gangs"there is nothing for me to be either happy or unhappy about. All that happened was a probable decision to handle crime quietly and without making a big divisive anti religion fuss about it. Just because decisions were made to follow a strategy that you almost certainly don't know anything about, but still disapprove of doesn't mean there was a "cover-up". Sometimes things are too sensitive to be allowed to escalate in the public perception. I recognise the downside of doing that, and that you would never approve of it in any circumstances, but I can understand why it might be needed.

If you find reality appalling then perhaps you shouldn't be moving to such a non diverse area.....An area that has been ethnically non diverse since Britain was created.

You are the one that moved to a non diverse area not me and you're the one who claims to love diversity.

I don't choose where I live because of it's diversity or lack of it! I just don't consider it! I chose it because of past associations, that my brother lives close by, the lack of heavy traffic and the beautiful countryside and coast. As I also love to sea fish it's ideal.

Asian wife eh....Like I thought, you took what you wanted and then surprise surprise you end up in one of the least diverse and nicest areas in the country.

I am not prepared to discuss how my relationship happened, where or why. It's none of your business. Suffice to say she is making a very significant contribution to the British economy.

Then you give it large about others being 'racist'.

I tell things as I see them but actually very rarely accuse anyone of being racist but if I do you can be sure it is richly deserved.

Judge people not by their words, but by their deeds.

I do. Maybe you should try harder to understand the words to see how they relate to the deeds.

You are completely wrong. I have understood the way British democracy works for a very long time and have been a steadfast opponent of referendums for decades. Interestingly I heard a Radio 4 programme recently in which a "Leave" voter, who has since taken up studying a University course on politics, took exactly the same line as me, and said his studies had not changed his views on the EU but that the only way to handle it is via Parliament.

If we had decided to stay in but Parliament, in the light of subsequent events and their collective wisdom, decided that we needed to leave then I would support it. That's THEIR job. It isn't ours.

You originally brought her up not me.

Anyway, if your blowhard performances on here are anything to go by she deserves a frigging medal.

Well, it stopped being their job when they called a referendum. You are perfectly entitled to argue that a referendum was a bad idea but you cannot then ignore it after the event.
Would you ignore an election if UKIP won?

You know you would.
