Where I agree is in the schools. We need to work with community leaders so that they can explain things. We need to train teachers from Islamic backgrounds but who have embraced western culture. If we concentrate on the girls first they will relish the freedoms it brings them and fight to hold onto them. Then the men will fall into line, so as to avoid losing their women. Just my ideas.

That's a good theory!

Sadly the reality is that the girls will not be allowed any freedoms, and any attempts to break away will result in a) forced marriage overseas, b) honour killing or c) total exclusion from their families - which given their culture would be no more acceptable to them than it is to traveller girls. Women are second class citizens and are brought up from birth to know their place. The men will not fall into line - they will just beat the women into submission, with the full backing of their peer group and community and their religion.

Yeah but come on Becky, let's focus on the negatives.

Most people who can’t afford their own property don’t find it that easy to move. There are many factors, family commitments, employment, schooling, etc
Are you honestly claiming that reading about something is more valid than personal experience?

Of course not but just because you live somewhere doesn't mean that you don't experience other places. One of my daughters and two granddaughters live in Aylesbury, which has seen racial tensions. I used to live in High Wycombe which too has it's share. A few year's back I had an interest in a Hotel in Rotherham and stayed there from time to time. Before I retired I routinely travelled throughout the UK almost every week, so stayed in many different areas.

I understand that some will find it difficult to move but the point I was making was that if it becomes an overriding priority then it can be done, and when the effort is made the results can be surprising.

Beware people who preach one thing and retire to homogeneous areas, which suffer from none of the problems of multiculturalism and have very small non white populations.

These people share responsibility for the higher crime rates and murder rates because they supported the high immigration policy.

They escape from the consequences of their idealism while leaving it for the working class poor to deal with what some refer to as 'challenges'.

Contempt isn't good enough for them.....they should be forced to live smack bang in the middle of these areas, not be allowed to leave and live the life they preach for others.

There were plenty of religious wars and sacrifices to get Britain to where it was. It's almost still ongoing in NI. It doesn't seem right that a potential religious conflict be foisted on to the people who clearly did not agree with the increasing Islamification of their home towns. People on here mention London, we are bound to have London connections, but there are other places probably worse than Shadwell or Slough. Bradford/ Blackburn/ Leicester/ Coventry/ Birmingham - I could list dozens.
There are even issues in rural Ireland now - the situation is a farce. People coming over and enriching an area is fine. When it's too many and whole areas are ghettoised, exactly who does that help?

I completely agree that if any area gets dominated by an incoming culture it causes significant problems for the current residents. It has to be confined to very specific places though given that the numbers are quite low. What should we do, given that it's a natural tendency for communities to gravitate towards each other. My expectations are that in time this will dissipate as the younger generations move on and out, just as has happened in the past. We need to help and encourage that and not seek to confine people in ghettos. Protecting the current residents is from being dominated could be part of a national strategy of ensuring dispersal through the use of incentives.

What I read so often here is the description of problems, allocation of blame for how they arose but not the slightest practical idea of how to improve things.

Beware the self righteous who believe they know everything and live in areas that they themselves admit have not been touched by the problems they pontificate about, but still see fit to criticise others in a similar situation.

These people share responsibility for the higher crime rates and murder rates because they do not propose any policies for dealing with the issues, let alone anything coherent and practical.

They escape from the consequences of their non effective self indulgent prattling whilst leaving it to the political classes to try to find actual solutions.

Contempt is far too good for them. They are worthless muck rakers who only make things worse without making any kind of contribution towards solutions. Forcing anyone to do anything against their will ought to be reserved for those convicted of crimes, but for such people just a period of compulsory silence would benefit humanity.

That's a racist policy against indigenous people and you are a racist.
Why only incentify minorities.
If your thought is it will happen naturally that's how it should happen.
I think you have just admitted defeat.

I don’t think visiting somewhere is enough to understand the situation. I’ve lived in Australia and New Zealand but wouldn’t pretend to understand how people there think about things.
The moving point is moot - however much people might want to move there is also an element of resentment at the thought leaving.

I have noticed an increasing use of current American slang terminology creeping into use in these threads.

Terms such as "NPC", "gammon" and "libtard". These are meaningless epithets being used by the conservative side of the very divided US political scene about their Democratic opponents.

Text speak has been banned here for years, presumably because it is regarded as a poor way to communicate and is somewhat childish.

I think the same ought to apply to the use of American slang. We are English. Let's be proud of our language and not ruin it with these aberrations.

What are the opinions of others?

Not as well as those who live there for sure but enough to form an opinion.

I haven't lived in either Australia or New Zealand but I have spent time in both. That was enough to tell me that I wish I had moved to either as a young man and of the two I much prefer New Zealand.

I was very impressed with NZ. One of the things I liked most was the way they integrate communities and accept and celebrate each other's cultures. Just look at the event earlier this year in Christchurch as an example. There are lessons for us there.

I have no idea what you are talking about and I rather suspect nor do you.

Finding practical solutions is not a game and seeking to score points very childish indeed. Anything suggested would need to be legally acceptable and I am not a lawyer.

By the way I did not say what incentives should be provided or where they should be directed, only that some kind of interventions could be made to help steer things towards a desired consequence.

All I am doing is trying to move the conversation away from complaining about things and towards finding ways to make things better.
