A few days ago another regular poster here took it upon himself to attack me personally and suggest that the reason I was "detested" was because of my past approach to the grooming gang scandal. On the face of it such a post has no place in this thread, if indeed it has a place in any thread. However, such action must be via the appropriate authorities, who are the Police and the various social service agencies. Anyone with information on such activities must take that to the Police and not get involved themselves in any way, especially not via pseudo vigilante rabble rousing in person or via the media. Interfering in Court proceedings has the potential of destroying trials and allowing criminals to walk free. Those who do so quite rightly get punished themselves. Anyone unsatisfied with the responses of the authorities have routes open to them to raise their concerns, ultimately ending up with their MP. Allowing the police to do their work is the best, and only really effective way, to bring criminals to court. I also believe it is unhelpful to describe such activity as "Muslim" or by any other irrelevant epithet. We need to focus on the crime and the criminal and not on anything else, especially the community from which they might have sprung. We must not alienate such communities. We must encourage them, however hard it is and however slowly they respond, to assist the authorities. That this issue has been raised again just when the Tories have secured a huge majority is instructive and requires careful monitoring. The far right has clearly become more visible and emboldened in the last few years and the election result seems likely to add fuel to those flames. Whose fault is that? The same people that enabled the election to end as it did. Corbyn and the far left being the primary culprits. At least they are now an irrelevance but the far right potentially are not. Having listened during the campaign to the reasoning given by previous Labour voters in the north for switching to the Tories it was very apparent that a strand of anti immigration and latent racist sentiment lay at the foundations of their reasoning. With so many of the new intake of Tory MPs representing northern constituencies it will be interesting to hear how they handle these issues. How many I wonder hold "Tommy Robinson" in as high a regard as many do in this forum? It will be even more interesting to see how Johnson and his government respond. If they slap down the right and truly try to become "One Nation" Conservatives then I won't be without hope. Let's see, but I am not holding my breath.
The first post of your’s I’ve read in a while because it’s not a wall of repeated text on what MPs should do, but not what what they actually do, and always have done, and you omit the bit including that they represent their party to make your point even more incredulous. In bold highlights YOU are part of the problem. British citizens are allowed to vote on limiting immigration. Who do you think you are controlling what people in their own country want, and they will include non British and non white or west European/Anglo Saxon celts. Have a day off. You’re frankly boring, repetitive and represent a minority of people. Have a nice nice day walking your dog in your quaint, idyllic area without a single issue before a game of bowls and no doubt plenty of time online how people in other areas with daily reality should live their lives or even think. Do you even support palace or football? I doubt it. What number compound were the away fans in before the Taylor report? Where was the previous training ground? No more multiple threads or new threads on the same person, plus low tolerance of slanging matches that are just 1 v 1. When it’s many v 1 then that’s likely to be different.

As I have often said no-one is compelled to read, or respond, to my posts. What do you think MPs actually do, other than represent their constituents? It's only the recent attempts to exert the power of deselection and try to cement the central power of the parties that concerns me. This was started by Labour and then taken up by the Tories. British citizens can vote on whatever basis they like. Ultimately our representatives must do what they believe is in their constituents best interests and if that means not giving them what they want, but giving them what they need, then they are doing their job. I stood on the Holmesdale terrace in 1954, was one of the boys who first banged the hoardings for "Glad all over". I watched Byrne make his debut and still have a page of autographs of the team he was in. I was at all of the important matches for many years and an old stand season ticket holder. I was there when we lost 4-3 to Real Madrid and right behind the Terry Long goal. Terry later became a personal friend. I followed them from the 3rd Div South to the 4th Div and all the way up and almost down again. I don't get to many matches these days, for obvious reasons. I watch every game though, if I can get a stream, where-ever I am in the world. Sometimes this involves getting up at 3 am just to be in front of a screen. So I think I am a supporter. As usual I didn’t read your comment on parliamentary procedure because it’s either bollox, or it’s not how it works in practice. Simple and you know it. That’s the only reply you need. The labour MPs who disagree were voted out, so they were told what they think about them trying to change their views as you put it, or just ignoring them in reality. We’ll see how the tory MPs do, if, big if, they do what you think they should do. But northerners and the working classes have a way of telling you what they think. It doesn’t mean they don’t, can’t, won’t get on with whoever. They have their views and if you try taking them for granted, pulling strokes and fast ones or tell them they’re this or that they’ll tell you in Frank terms or give you the elbow. Many of these people will be the young people losing out since 2004 or be related to them. And you think you can influence that from Truro or an MP with a few minutes on tv. Ha ha. Good luck.
