Your original point was that the UK would be better with a common approach with Europe - how does the fact Italy, Spain, Germany and France are all making different decisions at different times reflect this common approach?
As regards Trump, someone had to be first. Had he criticised Europe and then followed suit a week later he’d have been wrong then too.

This was the original point:-

"It must be a bit of a shock to all the Eurosceptics, who constantly complained that Brussels had taken control over everything, to see that national governments actually retain total control and can, and do, act when the need arises."

Trump made a typical knee jerk reaction, without consultation and any subsequent coordination. International cooperation is vital in everyone's interests at the moment. So why did he do that? My opinion, which has also been expressed by lots of others too, was that he was stung by the amount of criticism of his lack of seriousness, his dismissals of the crisis and clearly false claims about the number of test kits available. As ever he was more worried about his "ratings" than how it would impact the people, so went for a big announcement, as a Trumpish diversion.

Did you watch the Channel 5 documentary comparing Henry V111 to Trump last night? So many truths there.

This I’m afraid is just wishy washy guff and I have no idea what any of it actually means.

I don’t see this as getting into an argument (as you put it) but a reasoned debate and one in which when someone posts something which is really so wide of the mark is rightly called out for it, the comments questioned/qualified and where necessary those comments rebuked.

The reason that you have no idea what it means is all the evidence needed to explain why you think it is just a simple "we had a vote" matter.

It just isn't that simple. There were many contributory factors but now is not the time to explain them all again. If you really want to know then trawl back through my posts in this thread. Start with Corbyn's contribution and work from there!

This is the point I meant.

It will certainly prove to all, I hope anyway, that acting together delivers better results than trying to stand alone.

Now everybody is standing alone and apparently that’s good.

That though was not the point in the context of the comment. When you take things out of context you can usually twist them to mean something else.

It seems that the EU are now preparing to act together to shut their external borders.

As I have no wish to enter into pedantic arguments at this time I will leave it there.

OK ... so Trump was grandstanding and lying but the EU doing the same thing is a fine example of collaborative working. Feel free not to answer.

No lying but rushed and impulsive for the former. Looks 100% grandstanding to me.

Timing and co-ordination for the latter. No grandstanding on view so far as I can see.

Or a sensible decision taken without delay which may have helped stop the spread of the virus.
Trump could single handedly come up with a vaccine and get accused of grandstanding.

Nope, still lame nonsense and utter guff.

Speaking in a vague riddle is not going to cut it.

Is this what it comes to when one can’t accept the result and the emphatic defeat that came with it?!

Oh well! Anyone can dismiss anything as "guff".

The arguments are all there, you just have to find them and read them to understand. The reason we ended up with an 80 seat Tory majority, and a Brexit of the type we are stumbling towards, was down to a great number of different factors. The 2016 referendum and the 2019 GE were obviously the start and ending scenes of a long play with many characters and several acts. Interference in the referendum campaign by Russian bots working the social media platforms, aided and abetted by Farage and Cambridge Analytica was one. Cameron resigning another. May foolishly going to the country yet another. A Labour leader who did not want a second referendum and failed to stand aside when it was possible to install a national government prepared to go back to the people, probably the most defining one.

That ought to be enough for you to realise that it has nothing to do with not being able to accept a "defeat". No-one was defeated. I can see what happened and why it did. The task now is to have patience and wait. Everything goes around. No battle is ever lost unless you stop fighting. Success almost always follows a series of setbacks.

What happened to that Miller woman after she made a nuisance of her self and got know where. The same result came through and but delayed because of the selfish.
