It can be stored for six months at -20C for shipping and long-term storage, the company said."

Good news. Should ensure that it'll eventually be available to more people.

Hopefully. Although that increased versatility comes at an increased cost per dose, so not ideal for mass purchasing

Complete helmet. Be sincere and professional, rather than inexplicably acting like some sort of 40 year old teenager

Probably excited that he’s managed to secure 5m doses of the moderna vaccine just before doing that conference - ‘You said 500m doses JVT, I think you meant 505m doses’

f*** off mate.

Jonathan Van Tam is affectionately addressed as JVT by Boris Johnson and Matt Hancock amongst others so it is not a reference that Mr Hancock concocted by himself.

I do enjoy listening to the erudite JVT.

It seems with covid there’s a permanent blank cheque book for everything, so I’m sure the money will be borrowed from somewhere.

The Pfizer vaccine is packed in dry ice so is ok in a fridge for up to 10 days. So they claim.

Let’s not try to spin this - he’s a smug b****** - nicknames and cringey semi celebratory fluff metaphors (I can imagine the candle reference being dropped ironically earlier that day only for someone to say yeah, actually, say that) are for behind closed doors politico day to day bantz, not prime time public briefings on a situation that is still negatively affecting millions daily.

Literally the thick of it meets the office.

How I wish I was perspicacious like many on HOL.
I have no reason to be vainglorious whatsoever.
I do try and add some value to the debate but perhaps some have concluded that many of my contributions are blizzards of words in search of a coherent sentence.

I have concluded that Matt Hancock is clearly not your cup of 'Darjeeling'.
Being a Health Secretary in such times must be enormously challenging.

I'm still waiting for the second wave graph. The one which instigated the lockdown to be repeated. All I see is increases in positive tests, and increases in hospital admissions. Average death rates are normal as far as I can find.

And even if all these vaccines prove to be safe, it will take at least two years to get the already terrified public to believe they can carry on as normal.

Expect more of the same. For years to come.

Systematically dragged down by the lawmakers

I feel as if we have been having this same conversation since this all started.

What constitutes 'herd immunity' could have its own thread. For example deaths in Sweden continue to be low....so I think the whole argument around 'herd immunity' and how long it lasts isn't settled.

Still, I'm doing it again....Government policy on this virus is set and it's all been said....so it's all kind of pointless.

I think we need an effective vaccine first and one that prevents transmission too.

No doubt. But the job should be done with grace and humility.

This is where I get confused and I am not being sarcastic. I read contradictory stories about Sweden almost daily this one says that percentage wise Sweden is not doing well.

[Link]

Because it has a small population and a large land mass comparing it to the UK is not really valid. They suggest Denmark as a better comparison.

Other reports I have read say they are doing great, who knows?
