But that’s a different question isn’t it?

The only one that matters is whether or not people want to be forced to pay for it. People can both say that respect the BBC whilst not wanting to be compelled to pay for it.

The BBC is dead in the water. Its only chance of survival is to become an effective mouth piece for whatever the Government of the day is.

If it was truly popular people would be happy to pay. And they are clearly not. What is so wrong with offering people a vote on that?

I’ve got nothing against questioning how it is funded - i acknowledged in an earlier post that it’s essentially a stealth tax.

Eagleman90210 is trying to claim that more people in this country are against the BBC than for it, when it’s quite the reverse. The BBC is still held in high esteem both here and across the world.

Yawn.

The licence fee is in place until 2038.

Approved by the government earlier this year.

Oo, lol, another guarded insult, meh. Your tweet implies that the #defundthebbc is 212th most popular brand in the UK . . . WOW.

If I'm allowed a 'childish' insult myself, isnt it time you were in bed, seeing as you have a paper round in the morning, hmm?

Delusion on your part that you think your views represent the British public. The anti-BBC feeling on here (along with pretty much every pretty political position) is not reflective of the country as a whole.

And you know this how exactly? You live in a bubble of brainwashed baloney.

In the real world (outside minority White London) many have different views to the BBC version of reality.

I literally posted a YouGov poll showing 64% support for the BBC in the U.K. earlier in the thread. You live in a bubble of HOL brainwashed baloney.

I am not sure that is correct. There was a mid term review of the current deal which end in 2027. It has been suggested that the BBC could not move to a subscription service before 2038 due to the slow roll out of high speed broadband across the country.

However this is not yet government policy as far as I am aware.

What does support mean?
That just suggests that people value it, not that they think it is representative or is not in need of reform.

Its absurd misrepresentation of demographics and Left wing bias is appalling but not worse than ITV or Channel 4.

My reading of the poll that Dan put up seems to be about the notion of 64% of people having a positive opinion about the BBC. Not quite sure how that equates with support, especially given the only valid question is in terms of the funding.

If 64% of people are happy to pay for the BBC via the current licence fee, then thats a different matter.
That could be argued as being 'support' for it.

I don't know a single person who doesn't think that the BBC shouldn't be defunded.

Oh I agree, it’s totally a stealth tax. I think it’s insane value for money but then I have 6music on almost 24/7 so more than get my money’s worth.

I'm sure that the powers that be could work something out that would be fairer to all concerned.

But that could have been done decades ago....instead they still choose to criminalise people.
